Why not try powerline adaptors? They use your buildings electrical cabling as a network.Have used these with great success especially in one house that had dirty great think stone walls.

Re: Windows 7 is here!/ Which operating system are you using?
Been using 7 Pro for the last few months ( in beta and software agreement forms) in a domain enviroment and as a confirmed lover of xp and hater of vista, I got to say Windows 7 is a revelation. It's fast and just works and looks good too. I'm not running high end equipment either. Athlon 3200 (2.01...

I'm with scott on this. Multiple users can't edit the same part of a video file at the same time. File will be locked open to whoever is using it. If it were to be sectioned out into smaller chunks and worked on locally, then your in with a shout using gigabit. Once everyone is happy then put the pi...

Used to work in a secondry school as a technician but done a bit of fill in teaching here and there and it's a load of stress and hassle. What deployment scenario have you got? business/home etc?
Got fixed ip addresses or dynamic from the ISP?
How critical is this solution?
How much do you want to spend?
How much time have you got?

Re: blocking dns
I'd set the dns settings on the clients, then use local group policy to deny access to the networking properties. They cannot change the dns settings as the option will not be there for them to do it.

Re: blocking dns
If you block outbound dns requests how are you going to resolve dns requests from your DNS server and thus get to your web page? Take that rule off.
The router should have the isp's dns servers in there. If not put them in and that should be that.
