MGF/MGTF
Hi, Long time no see. I'm looking at possibly getting a cheap second car in the region of £800. Looking for something soft top and fun. I was thinking about an MGF/TF 1.8 vvc or 1.8 tiptronic. Anyone got any experience of these? What are they like? Other than head gasket anything to watch out for? W...

Suggestions for a cheap runabout
Thinking of getting a cheap runabout. Ideally something tiny - no bigger than a corsa really. Reliable. Economical. Under £1500. Auto would be a huge plus. So far my search has thrown up 1.3CDTI corsa, 0.9cc Fiat Seicento, Smart car. I would have another smart car but the engines are made of chocola...

Re: New car tax rules mean end of transferable tax
I can't find the source for this story. Can anyone share it? Went I taxed the TT without the need to show the insurance certificate (can't see any complaints about that....) I sled about this and the guy in the post office denied it. He may be wrong but I couldn't find anything to confirm.

Re: What Car (part deux)
Ok, so in the end I ignored all suggestions and went with an Audi TT Quattro Roadster 180. I have to say I'm blown away so far. It's an absolute joy to drive. Not just the power but also the road holding, spec and how refined it is. Just cruising along at the speed limit is enjoyable but going round...

Re: What Car (part deux)
Assuming your talking about an old 1990's Lancia delta? And are you talking an Integrale Evo1/Evo2? Very pricey for the age of the car, and lots of issues with bodywork, corrosion and shell cracking around the A-pillars etc. I'd buy a mint one for new Golf money and still treat it as a project. but...

Re: What Car (part deux)
That's the thing. I would compromise on size or economy for the right car. Budget i suppose £7k but could stretch a bit more. Car will be financed by smart car sale/trade (£1-1.5k) plus finance for the difference. Ideally up to £100 per month but could stretch to £150 per month. May also be able to ...

After the doggies spouted in the original What Car thread I've come back for more stellar advice  I love the Smart but it is showing its age; engine needs a rebuild (all 600/700cc models do after 50k), needs a new roof, wheel bearing (after BJ Respect replaced the wrong one :P ), interior tired...

Re: Police Central e-crime Unit virus / ransomware removal -
I don't even use anti-virus and touch wood haven't had a virus in probably 8 years. From what I understand viruses can't automatically run and need some kind of user acceptance - be it clicking a spurious link or running an exe. Is that right? Anyhow, if I ever get or got a virus I'd just fresh inst...

uTorrent and Xbox Live
Whenever uTorrent is running it lags my Xbox Live connection so I have to close uTorrent or pause all traffic. Is there a way I can automatically close the uTorrent port/s when my xbox starts up? i.e. when my router detects traffic through the xbox live ports or through my Xbox's static IP? Any ideas?

Re: Dual-boot wont run either OS
The reason I had to install XP was because I needed to load a driver that wasn't signed and no matter what I tried I couldn't get around it.
As the OSs are on separate drives I'll try disconnecting the other drives and trying to fix each install separately then take it from there.

Dual-boot wont run either OS
Hi, I'm a bit stuck with an issue on my media PC. Due to compatibility issues with Windows 8 I've had to install XP as a dual boot option. My PC has three HDDs. Disc 1 is C:\ and has Win8 installed. I had some unpartioned space on Disc 2 in which I created a 10GB partition (G:\) and installed XP. On...

I get the lag occasionally although the ROM I'm running at the moment is very smooth. Battery life is very good here too. I don't have a problem with branded tablets though as I always run custom ROMs or am I missing your point? For now I'm going to stick with the Motorola as there is no real reason...

Re: The future is electric?
This is about having an electric car that recharges itself off the road so no matter if the battery capacity drops. I'm biased because of the Prius but I think alternative fuel cars are ace. I love when people get in it first time and are stunned when it pulls away silently and they're like wtf wher...
