Re: have that germans!
Yes, this will be on post-manufacturer warranties, so for most manufacturers it will be on 3 to 10 year old cars. Since the youngest MGR products are now 8 years since manufacture, give it a year for the survey to have started recording the MGR sample will be cars 7-10 years old. The fact is though ...

I was running on Zero 1 (Hornby's original dcc system, but about 10 - 15 yrs too early), We had that. Dad refuses to go digital now because of all his old style Hornby locos which he was told are impossible to convert. Makes a problem for me as whenever I visit I have to do all his wiring for him -...

Re: How long before I can drive again after scaphoid fractur
11.5 wks, so you're just over the average healing time for a scaph fracture. Given the risk of scaph waist fractures to lead to necrosis of the scaph nearest to your arm I'd seriously avoid driving until given all clear by the docs. As I say, I am waiting for the appointment next week before I make...

Thanks, I've not got an auto I'm happy to say.
I'll wait and see what the fracture clinic say before I do drive. If the healing has gone to plan then I'll not have to worry about the effect of driving on my wrist, just the effect of the wrist on my driving.

How long before I can drive again after scaphoid fracture.
Hi, I managed to injure my wrist (on Friday 13th of May incidentally), and have a waist fracture of my scaphoid. The fracture is not displaced (i.e.) still in the correct line so I was put in a cast. At 5 1/2 weeks I went back for an X-ray and it was healing but the fracture line was still visible s...

I'd cut the clamp off and get rid of the car asap - even if he has to use one of those car buying companies.
Dispose of the clamp and theres no evidence of criminal damage (they can't prove something is damaged if they cant see it). It would never get past the CPS to a persecution.

I have to say the gender thing seems to have been given alot more weight than would seem to be creditable. For example, I know a female friend who's gone to insure the same car as me and has been quoted alot less. Now I wouldn't mind so much if everything else was equal and the woman had a lower pre...

Re: What Happened To RoverGroup ???
I thought rovergroup and roverpower were offshoots from the great 'no-mod status' argumnet on here about three years ago.. Roverpower came about because Andy, the guy who started Metropower, sold his Metro and moved on to a 200Vi. So he sold MP off to someone who would run it and then started a new...

Re: Which new 4x4? Subaru or L200 warrior?
As above, buying a 4WD vehicle for the tiny amount of snow we get in this country is total overkill. So many people jump into saying they need a 4x4 because of the snow as though they think its some kind of justification. You're right its not needed, but in alot of cases I think its more of an excu...

Re: Which new 4x4? Subaru or L200 warrior?
Buy a set of snow tyres and be done with it? Should be more than enough to cope with pretty much anything the weather over here will throw at you. I'd agree with that, unless you are venturing on uncleared roads in a National Park, fwd and winter tyres is enough. AWD is not a miracle, saw just as m...

Re: Which new 4x4? Subaru or L200 warrior?
Car every time. Especially if you consider a 4wd car, the only thing a 4x4 has over it is ground clearance - which you don't need in snow. In fact, high centre of gravity is probably a bigger disadvantage than the 4x4 system is an advantage. Tyres are where you get the grip from, so probably a 2nd s...

When servicing doing a coolant change or changing a rad or water-pump. If the valve is blocked then someone may think that the system is bled when it isn't, which then overheats the most vulnerable part - the head. Although, I'm more meaning that it causing bleeding problems can lead to an incorrect...

I only had a fast car before because I live within walking or cycling range of work. We have work cars when we need them for work so I don't really need a car except for the weekly shop and visiting friends. I don't think that, in my current situation, I would need a cheaper to run car. The cost of ...

tbh, I think it would be a good thing for the country to have a proper high speed network linking London, Brum, Manc and Leeds. Get up towards 200mph on service trains so there is no real point to flying such short distances. Existing WCML and ECML north of those cities could go up to 140mph with si...

The mini-me conversion is where the SOHC engine has the head swapped to one of the SOHC VTEC heads from a Honda Civic. I think the highest power SOHC VTEC engine was 130PS, same as the DOHC D16. Basically you change the head, ECU and wiring loom to get another 15bhp, which is easier than changing th...
