Re: The future is electric?

If you ignore the 8kWh of energy it takes to petrol the gallon of fuel and use that to compare to you may be right.... It's not really relevant or fair to take fuel at source as the total emissions. Who cares about carbon dioxide anyway, air pollution NOx and particulates are the real pollutants. Ty...

Re: The future is electric?

Incidentally, a company who I did some work with a few years ago (TNO, who used to do all the crash testing) actually did a paper at some point when they found out that a Prius is actually less environmentally friendly than a Hummer. It's obvious it's more efficient, but the batteries were so speci...

Re: Diesal Vs Petrol turbos. Which pulls better?????

I see quite a few Prius's and a few Civic Hybrid's driving around the west midlands every day. Particulary in B'ham city centre though. What i've always noticed though is that the typical driver's dont seem to drive them any differently from petrol/Diesel car's especially in rush hour traffic etc. ...

Re: Diesal Vs Petrol turbos. Which pulls better?????

That would explain why users report an approximate range of 1.5 miles at 30mph driving on battery only D If the distance covered in the TG test is known that could be factored into the Prius's economy reading. I suspect it wouldn't tip things in its favour though. On track conditions it's probably ...

Re: Diesal Vs Petrol turbos. Which pulls better?????

same here. A prius needs to do 1.5million miles just to offset its the cost to the enviroment to build it Vs a proper car. And top gear put one round a track Vs an M3 and the M3 had the better economy. J But they didnt run the Prius with the extra battery charge it had got from that sort of driving...

was the discussion about its drive train? no. Were you making logger up that you once read about the X-type? Yes. Pointless when everything is different chassis, floorpan, subframes, body, all engines north-south. It was designed before 2008 and most of it S-Type. Sweet FA to do with Mondeo. Cheers

HANS device and harness, you're no where near an explosive airbag anyway.

Airbags sell cars anyway, thats the main reason they are fitted in such numbers now.

Imagine a normal racing incident that triggered an airbag to go off.... whoops.

Airbag = extra weight anyway.
