Re: importing a car from Australia?

I'd only buy a FPR or HSV V8 if I was going to the hassle of importing. Driven the SV6 Commodores several times, not a bad steer, not as quick as expected for a 3.6 V6 but it's obviously not slow. Had a drive of the G6E which is Fords luxury version of the XR6, 4l V6 in those iirc. I'd note that the...

It was cheaper than when I left the UK last time I was back.

Bloody whinging poms!

Prices fluctuate like crazy here, increased by 0.20c per litre between going on holiday and coming back. People just stfu and get on with life, better things to do than worry about the cost of fuel.

i work on landrovers every day and for what you want it for etc i would try to get the older ones 300tdi etc as long as they have no rust there fine the newer ones are temperamental esp with the electrics and air suspension if you want a td5 try to buy one with the air suspension removed and spring...

They are available as aftermarket though as I have seen them advertised. ARB make loads of 4x4 upgrades over here, not sure if they exist in the UK.

The series 2 disco does not have a lever for the centre diff Its permanent 4wd and the traction control sorts the rest out Depends what your doing really. Re: Thinking about buying a Discovery.

Guessing the climate there means discoverys are not rust buckets? I would prefer a td5 because of the extra power and general driveability (2000-2005 Series 2) The wheel bearings, fuel pump, cylinder head problems, injectors can be expensive. Changing the rear air bags or fitting coil springs to th...

Thinking about buying a Discovery.

Well, having only one car is becoming a bit of a PITA. I'd like to buy another car, makes sense to have something with some off road capability living out in the country, probably with bull bars fitted incase of hitting a roo, the extra height and 4wd incase the roads flood etc. I'll use it for goin...

Depends if you are looking at it from a financial point of view or not tbh.

It seems that you do it because you enjoy it more than anything else, so long as you can cover costs and perhaps make a moderate profit of a few hundred then that would be the way I would go.

You'll probably have to actively claim this back. But yeah, you're thinking is correct. They assume same salary/tax code for the tax year and calculate your dues that way.
