I made some from 16mm stainless tubing. I did need to use a dremel type tool to "shave" off some of the tube as 16mm is a little too tight to fit but they seem to have worked a treat. In fact, I made a couple of extra sets for a member on here and I've had no feedback to say they didn't work.

I posted a set to Rockey who you bought the forged engine off. Did he not pass them on? maybe they're already fitted in the engine?

Do you have the measurements handy as i may be able to get some made up in stainless tubing aswell?

I'm sure I have the dimensions somewhere. I do have a plastic one which came with a recon'd M series block so I'll measure the length (20mm I think) but the actual diameter is 15.85 mm iirc. The 16mm tube was a good starting point. I did blunt three blades in my pipe cutter before I realised I needed one made for SS and not copper pipe. I could do with a lathe really.

Thanks, will see if i can get some made up, if you find them and get exact measurements that would be great.

Plastic ones work just fine though. I got mine from rimmers I think when I broke mine removing them to resurface the head.

I assume they would have a landrover part number equivilent too if that makes them easier to source locally.

Yes, of all the things to 'uprate' head dowels are surely at the bottom of the list?

if you made them to the same size of the plastic ones then doupt it .

you need to measure the head and make them to that . as the plastic ones are a crush fit and one use only . we found this when we made mine . made them same as the plastic ones then they where to big effectivly . so had to go off the head

to be honest once the head is clamped down are irrelvant anyway just nice to not have to find new ones everytime u take the head off which should be once or hopefully never in a few years
