My rear arches are MINT and original. Picked up the odd stone chip since I had them rolled to take the cut slicks but sh!t happens and it's only a Metro. At least I am not abusing a Corsa B or something.

TBH, I have always liked 'under-rated' cars as I like FWD cars with power, I don't like RWD cars. I have been on forums with people wrongly proclaiming that a Metro is one of the best cars in the world - they aren't. They have then said they are the best handling car - again they aren't, a Pug 106/205/R5 Turbo will tie them in knots and are at least comparable to a Metro GTi.
Metro's are crap TBH. They have a nice nostalgic feel but compared to the field at the time they were lacking. I like my Metro but I am happy to admit it is a logger car so I can't be upset. Win - win scenario.

then you have to wonder, why on earth do you want it?.
this car is the worst thing ever, im gonna buy it!..my metro is very capable of out witting most things in its same bracket, your compairing one to a 205, or a r5 turbo?
thats like saying, yeah this shotgun is good, but it wont fire as fast as a ak47..well, no sh!t Sherlock..

Read the post in the context it was posted in. I am NOT comparing a 1.4 8v to a 205 GTI etc. I am also not saying it is the worst car ever, otherwise I have pushed Proton etc up the scale.Roger Red Hat wrote:then you have to wonder, why on earth do you want it?.

I also have a 160 VVC, torsen diff, DVA head, lightweight steel billet flywheel etc ready to go into it.
Again, not a fair comparison as that's a modified Metro and a modified R5/205 is a far better and more respected car IMO.
I have it as it is a cheap throw away car that I can leave parked in the City centre, go out, get drunk and know that there are other cars more appealing to a joy rider so it will still be there the next day. It is cheap, it stands me about about £6k all in. Not many MINT cars you can get for that money that are as you want them and tick all the boxes you need.
You can like a car without thinking it is the be all and end all of motoring. That's my outlook anyway.

Re: Show us your metro's
I like how you think taking (by your own admittance) one of the few mint metros and spending 6k on it makes it a throwaway car.
I didn't like the colour of the south wing, so I got the butler to set fire to the house
A well sorted metro might not be the most amazing car in the world, but it can be a lot more fun to drive then many much more expensive and supposedly competent machines.

Bruce Wayne let Wayne Manor be burnt to the ground so they wouldn't find the batcave.
He just moved it to that really well lit basement for the sequel... For the greater good

If I smash it to high heaven though, I sit and wait on another garaged granny mobile to crop up for about £1k-£1.5k and swap it all over so yes, it is a disposable car in my eyes.Null_Byte wrote:I like how you think taking (by your own admittance) one of the few mint metros and spending 6k on it makes it a throwaway car.

People buy cars for that and are sometimes lucky to see a year out of them.
As said elsewhere, I like the fact that people don't expect what is coming. I almost bought another Corsa Turbo tonight, albeit a non-runner but a lot of parts have since been sold off it otherwise I would have added another crap disposable car to the list.

Without wishing to appear like a vulture, what will be available? Are you breaking it, just de-specing it or just selling Honda conversion parts?

I'm going to try and keep everything thats on there currently, I have a k turbo engine and inlet manifold that are being paid for and collected this weekend, still have a brand new turbo from it and the exhaust manifold available. Oh and a 1 month old MEMS 3 alternator. Nothing particularly exciting until i can actually complete the conversion, then I'll have a low mileage 160 lump and BRM gearbox with steel caged bearings etc.Limecat wrote:Not good.munday wrote:Was hoping to have a B18 in it by the end of summer but i lost my job yesterday, so as soon as i have 25 posts I'll have a couple of bits up for sale on here![]()

Its a 1.6 with vvc exhaust cam, 52mm throttle body and welds ground out of exhaust manifold.Roger Red Hat wrote:what engines in that metro VVC MINI?
Goes quite well as its light has it has no extras and no anti roll bars etc so keeps weight down. But doesn't go around corners
Also the camacs are like a loaded gun in the wet

Every Metro actually came from the factory built from iron oxide, it's just that they aren't prone to much paint so you see it all!

You have to be a bit warped to want to own a Metro now.
Re: Show us your metro's
well i will start by going back in the day, my metro rio 1.1c
bought for 180 it looked like this,

had the rear archs and bumpers colour coded so she looked like a metro rio grande. i then added front spots to her and twin rear fogs.

and one sporty one

part exd her due to insurance been so silly for it and a pug 306 Dturbo was cheeper to insure.
wish i kept her as she was a better shell than the gta i have now
anyway moving on years later to the metro gta
bought this one for 180

i did the same mods to this one like i did with the 1st one aswell as repair the inner arch. only with out the colour coded wing mirrors and vents.

new one in.
as she is now

with a trollied vvc engine!
never even got the chance to mot it!!
spec for this one is oem sleeper,
i have made this one more of a 1.1c crossed with gta. its still work in progress,
iam still in a debate on what to badage it up as, either a 1.1c or keep the gta 16v.
still work in progress, it should have been on the road by now! then it was gonna get the new archs treatment like the 1st one and look as clean as that one.
so this car is gonna venage payback on all those who gave me shite on the road with the 1st metro
