I take it he has had a knock to the head and consequently has gone insane in the membrane?

yeh but for £2k he can get a nice sporting, low mileage, super cheap to run, and not half as slow as you'd think.

i'd have another anyday of the week, even if it is made by fiat ;)

Must of done :o

I for one, like going out to my car in the p*ssing rain and knowing if it'll start :)

Mind, I am strange, and I feel that paying more than £300 for a car is extortion :bleh:

tell you what, it's been a cheaper car to ever run than a rover.

and a damn site more fun for anything 1600cc or less.
they handle like mini's (the proper ones, not the german scum copy)
never had a problem.

cheap, cheerful, low tax, low insurance and excellent mpg.

remind me what else you need in a cheap runaround ?
it won't lose anymore value, they look sporty, especially in broom yellow.

I know my cars, had plenty of them, and its the only one i'd have another of besides the Ti, which again is same class. underated, and therefore CHEAP, but not cheap to run.

justify it then.......

i'll plough you down on pretty much every point.

and NO car is perfect, so don't think you can come up with ones i could not say the same about a Rover etc.......

i'm just pointing out as a 2nd car, it was nippy, cheap to run, lost £500 after 17months ownership, and never missed a beat.
and i had more fun driving it than any other car i've had apart from the Ti or the Saphire cossie i used to own.

I will, just pressed for time right now. I'll get back to this topic later. I'm only razzing you, but I am serious about thinking there's no good reason to get a Punto.

Can't help feeling you might be taking the mick yourself though...

Suzuki Swift GTi.

Cone filter and exhaust, screaming 1300cc road riot. Have another one any day!

Hell. I'd agree to that. This is what I did to my last Ti

Pigf*cker in an Astra too busy talking on the phone blew straight through a junction into the side of me

err i'm totally serious.

i'm surprised you as a rover owner who always gets abuse by the marque name cannot appreciate another underated vehicle for what it is.

it's not a supercar or anything like, but as a cheap runaround, there isn't much else for the money in same class.

I had a panda, and it was reasonable (despite being old, rusty, nackered and generally unsafe). My mate has sciento thing, new style, and that aint bad either for a tin can on wheels...

eitherway , cheap little cars... as long as theyre designed better now than a 90's panda i wouldnt slate em too much...

get a fiat coupe, hmmm, drooooool

Sheesh, hang on, I never said it was a logger box, just that, whilst like my Ti, it may be a cracking little motor, unlike my Ti, it is utterly soulless (well, my 1.7JLX-TD was)...

Now, let's have a nice big :grouphug: and be friends, we all know there's plenty of undicovered cars out there that have their own cult following, we as Rover owners know that, but there will always be people who knock or take a swing, good hearted or not. We all know what it's like to have fun poked, and I'm sure myself, nor Irish Rover never meant any ill gotten harm... :(

Nothing wrong with a punto if you want a cheap charismatic runaround. As far as I know there pretty realiable. Though it would feel like when hell of a comedown from a 328. Good second car though.

Yeah, it looks like I'm in deep doodoo alright Dave! :D Thanks for trying to take the bullet for me though!

Geraint, I'm still busy here so I'll have to just promise to post about why the Punto is so cack (as if there's any need  ) later. I want to have enough time to get really stuck into it!! :P

Oh, and of course I love you all - no matter how off your barnacle you are! :grouphug: :roflmao:

I swear, I'll come back to this. Only it feels like a chore now... and I don't know if I have the energy for a proper rant... you know the kind where I can give the Punto the kind of lambasting it truly deserves. :)

I've just had my dinner now and am feeling a little bloated... can't do anything strenuous for a little while yet, and that includes getting worked up about rationalising the obvious.

Also, I think my mood is too good at the moment to allow really getting the cudgels out. Maybe I'll try giving up cigarettes for a little while in the hope that that will get me irritated enough to want to sit down and write a lengthy diatribe about why anyone who thinks buying a Fiat Punto is a good idea has got to be about as sane as a rabid badger.

No, it's not that Geraint. Although I have to admit I am beginning to question myself... in the same was as if you kept telling me the earth was flat and seemed so insistent you were right, I'd actually have to go off and do some thinking. :)

I dunno, one of us must have been smoking something other than cigarettes! :? :P

It's quicker to walk...

My diesel was *awful*. Only thing the little pedal on the right seemed to do was alter the smoke and noise production levels. When the cambelt finally died on it, I coasted to the side of the A34, miles from anywhere, and did a little jig :D
