puddle in boot :(
Guys, i've just found a puddle in the boot on the Tourer.
It was on the offisde part and not in the spare wheel bay.
Is it a common problem that rear light cluster seals can leak ?
The boot seal is a tad the worse for wear, so was already planning on replacing that after the boot build for ICE was done (as it would make changes to the seal etc).
Are the odds on the cluster or the tailgate seal ?
Does the old silicone sealer trick work for this ?
cheers

Can't speak for tourer, but Coupes have a drain pipe (no, really) which goes along the roof and downthrough the boot out. Mine was disconnected on my Jap, causing water ingress. Thats all sorted now though

Yep thats what I mean. The function they serve is to allow air in and out of the car ... for instance when closing the door you force air flow in the car - a completely sealed car (air tight) wont allow you to close the door due to the pressure. These vents are to allow the flow of air. However as we all know Rovers dont seal up air tight at the best of times so blocking them off with some duct tape just stops water from getting in and due to the many other little holes you can still close your doors.
Now that probably sounded like me rambling on about something you can't understand as I haven't explained it but well I'm getting through a bottle of Jack D quite quickly and well can't think straight.

If its got T1TS or WHEELS, it WILL give you problems.
BTW its because the foam seal (why rover use foam is beyond me) has perished. You dont want to cover up the vent as chances are its not the vent itself, but a faulty seal.
I used silicon sealant around the hole of the vent, I also took the rear bumper off and sealed around the other side of the vent. As Rover decided it would be a good idea to rivet them into place the new vents i bought are useless.
After sealing all around the vent the car has not leaked - RESULT

Just an idea, but if you dont know where the water is coming from wouldn't it be easier to stand by the car with a watering can pouring water all over the area (moving slowly) and watching where it comes from?
That's what I did. And mine turned out to be the little vents. I took mine out and put sealant all round the gasket, then all round the outside before putting it back on. Problem solved.
