Changing cars, ideas
Right ive got the oppertunity to sell my car to someone who really wants it!
I also fancy a new car but want to stay with rovers but fancy something a bit quicker but at the same time insurable and not that much more to run!
i was thinking about either a twin cam 216 gti or a 220gsi??
Would you recommend either of the two or keep the coupe??
If no any other suggestions bearing in mind im only 18 (19 this year) have pass plus and 1 years no claims!
Cheers

You'd get the engine from a GTi TC, 416 GTi or a CRX.
Problem is with the 216GTi is they tend to be rather old and rusty by now as they stopped making them at K reg I think.
If you're thinking of going for a 2.0 Nasp, why not a 400 tourer? That'd be a lot more unusual...

Bearing in mind that a turbo is only 3 insurance groups higher than your 216, not sure what your paying now, but Bell direct will cover you for around £1600 according to insure supermarket from what I put in, thats less than my first year at 19, with 1 years ncb...
As I say, not sure about what you're paying now, but I found when I added my mrs on quotes for a 2-turbo, it came down a lot, same if I added my mum, so it'd probably be less than that if you tried. If you want, I can post their phone number?
I'm not suggesting this purely because I'm selling a Coupe Turbo, honest

But its done 710,000 miles

Id look at running costs, your driving style and what you want the car for if you're looking at turbo power.
They aren't very economical so if its your only car and you do long journeys its a no no, unless you have money to burn of course. Im guessing at your age a 216 GTi or 220 GSI would be better, the GSi is nice and torquey but the twin cam 1.6 honda engine LUUURRRVES to rev.
Im happy enough with my Twin cam coupe at the mo, i don't reckon there would be much in it between mine and a 220 down the lanes...

Well i have just been rang about a new job today! Have an interview monday and its quite good money too!
If so it might be worth keeping the coupe until my insurance runs out and try get a turbo?? as i would be 19 aswell then with 2 years driving.
I drive normally really, booting it around became boring about a year ago!
granted my 216 coupe is a quick car but now just feels flat to me and want a bit more power![/url]

71,000 miles. I think it could be nigh on impossible to do 710,000 in a car that age. MIne has done 260,000 in 8 years and that is pushing it a bit IMO.

When driving sensibly, t16 turbo is more economical than the NASP - could be something to consider.
