Whilst I was gutted that AndyR decided not to run against the RWD winnder becuase of the cars gearchange problems - I'm sure everyone can appreciate it was for the beast int he long run.
I've quickly put up a few shots from the event in a post here:

Agree was a fantastic day, cold and damp in the morning and i even ended up sun burnt by the end off it
So great machines there, the CRD Supra, that can only run 4 or 5 times before the handbrake cable wears the carbon propshaft to a failure point
Congrats to andyr some stunning runs there.
Got over 400 photos to sort through now, (mate was the guy with the bright yellow t-shirt and the cannon EOS-D that got a bit snap happy)
Didn't see many others there, but still a great day
PS. What did andy run in the final??

Hi all,
(there really isn't a smilie with a big enough smile)
I just like to say a big thanks to everyone from RT who attended, and extra big thanks to Ross, Iain & Chris (don't know where you disappeared to after I saw you first thing) & of course the 2 Cookie Crew members
. Andy for winning the FWD Drag shootout and knocking out Andy Nichols and Jase for his 2nd place in FWD Handling.
I had a great day, even if I was a tad cold in the morning and I was very tired. There's nothing like last minute is there?
Cheers
Clare

You're not the only one
Had windows open on way back down the M1 till we hit a spot of rain, wasn't until windows went back up noticed my face felt like it was on fire
We made a move about 3.30, knew we should have stayed until the end

AWESOME day.
Big up respect to Andy R and Cookie Racing.
To get there at all was a VERY big achievement, but for Andy to have never driven the car on the new spec and get the times he did was incredible.
It was obvious that nobody expected Andy N to lose, as the camera crew put the camera in his car so as to get lots of footage... Unfortunately after the first semi final they had to rip it all out again!
More to come from Andy R as well IMO...

Excellent day.
First off, big congratulations to Andy R, everyone I knew who was there was commenting on your car and how well it ran, and you had their support in the shootouts as well, very impressive car mate, good to lay a face to the name on Sunday.
It was also good to finally meet some of you lot, with me being from the land of kilts and haggis, Grant who has answered some questions on msn now and then when I've been stuck, and Si Guerney, who has been outstanding in helping me out with any issues I had over pretty much a year since my car went off road for its rebuild etc. Also to meet Ian P, Niel F, Jase, and anyone else I was chatting to, apologies for not mentioning you but I havent managed to store many new names from the day.
Well done to all the Rover people, congrats to Jase on his 2nd place in the handling as well, what time did you run? The team spirit was outstanding as regards Jase's car and the effort that went into sorting out his wiring problems, personally I'm totally clueless when it comes to such things, but I was impressed by the effort that went in to getting it running again.
Personally I was very happy with the way the car ran, the ignition adaptor for the e-manage didnt turn up till Thursday, and we decided that starting to fanny about with it at that point would be a bit foolish, so left it as was, then we wanted some more boost, so turned it up to 17psi, though we had lost the wideband at the time (found it now
) and had to just guess it might need a 1/4 turn on the fse to stop it leaning out, apparently that was too much though as Marc said his eyes were melting on the way home as he chased the rover up the A66 through the wave of fuel I was belching at the top end. I'll get the AFR checked during the week ready for USSC, mayeb get the e-manage on by then if it works.
Best time was a 13.5 @ 108 mph with a 2.38 60ft IIRC, Jacq isnt here just now and has the time cards in her handbag. Managed to get some good info on how to run the car though, holding the rpm longer gives me better terminals, did it on one run round to nearly 6500rpm and got a 112mph terminal, unfortunately the 60 ft was 2.4x so the time was only 13.6 Also thanks to Andy R who mentioned he only ran 15psi in the tyres, I left the suspension stiff rather than soft, put 15psi in them, and blootered it off the line, one of the 2 runs I did like this was against Andy actually, unfortunately on both runs when I launched like this, although I got low 2.2 60ft times the box wouldnt go into 2nd, missed it once on the first run, twice versus andy and got it on the 3rd attempt, running a Helix paddle, so hoping this isnalt always going to be the case, was doing 2.2 on the organic helix clutch and could get the gears, hoping it was just the heat of the day as I wasnt long off the handling course and the queues for the 1/4 were small, meaning less time for it to cool the clutch down.
Top Speed, well, me thinking I was being clever I taped the roof up etc to save drag, then at around 130 indicated the wind got under the tape and made a god awful noise, I browned my trousers and hit the brakes, then realised what it was, got back on the throttle and only made 148 by the line. Decided to go again, but the car was toasty, made 153 this time, reckon could probably have sneaked another 1-2mph out it if it had been as cool in teh bay as the first run, as for speedo accuracy lol, it was on the stopper for ages at 151 before I got to the line, was 6300/6400ish in 5th crossing the line, also lost a mudflap as I crossed the line but the fire marshal returned that to me as I picked the card up from the caravan.
My biggest dissapointment of the day was the handling, I left it too late and only got 1 run at it, every corner bar the last I got the car turned into and then thought, "oh ffs, could have been in here a lot faster than that", but you live and learn, only pulled 38 secs, reckon the car had easily 2-3 secs could have come off that. I'm better at tracks than straight lines normally, will put that down to experience and if I get to do the event again do the handling first. But even at that it was a small upset, was a good day.
So, all in all great fun, and thats the main thing, apologies for the long post, got back to Scotland about dinner time (we stayed over another night to get pished) and just having a tipple again, I will try and post some videos asap.
Thanks again to all I spoke to, was good to finally meet some peeps.
Ross

andy n managed a very respectable 11.96@ 132mph, but had some clutch creep issues sowasnt getting a clean launch. well done tho to andy r, top result and proof its not all over till the fat lady sings!
a couple of people seem to think the fester got a dodgy time, you may be interested to know the 60ft clock doesnt affect the et in anyway, you can run with it turned off/on as you please, or swap it for an 1/8th mile time which they sometimes do. the fester is about 450-500bhp apparently, and managed 179mp at brunters previously. did 168mph yesterday on a shorter run!

I was talking to the lads who ran the fester through out the day and he wasnt doing 12.1's he was getting 13.1's.
I spoke to him when the head was off and said whats the best run now, he said a 12.9 but some one said we did an 11.8
I just personally feel AndyN was a little cheated, if i find it runs another high 11 or v low 12 i will stand up and say i am wrong.

Wel done to Andy R! Very pleased he won thro on the FWD final, that FTO was a quick car, and he just seems to get quicker with each event.
Just like to put myself forward for slowest time of the day after loosing the clutch on the 3rd run (wondered what that noise was on run 2)
It just aint as fun when you have to sit and watch.
Looks like another repair for the sale, or stipping the poor thing for parts. Find out in 2 weeks.

Is it just me, or is it a bit strange that the winner of the shootouts gets no prizes (with respect to class, FWD, RWD, 4WD)
Looking at AndyR, yes he wasn't the quickest time of the day during qualifying, but he won the shoot outs.
Qualifying to me means to Qualify to get into the finals, then you compete there and win the Compertition. If thats not the case, then what is the point of qualifying why not just have longer to run and the fastest runner of the day wins.
And yes it's very dodgy about the fiesta's time without the timing gear, and i to thought he had been in the high 12's low 13's most of the day.

I reckon I got that one - either on on of my overboost runs or one of the baulked 2nd gear changes...................
No way will I ever turn up to an event again with a new gearbox esp after Dans problems last year
Andy R winning the shootout was one of the highlights for me - along with Adam winning the handling by a clear margin - so I was able to smile at my problems on the day

Fully concur with Ritchie! What's the point of qualifing, winning the shootout, but not getting first prize
A final is a final, winner of that wins end of story, it's a bit like saying the winner of the FA cup can't have it cos another team scored more goals in the season
Grant620 wrote:FWD just doesn't attract the crowds - so no effort is really made to give prizes.
Yea but FWD seems to be the event that upsets happen, this year an 11 second car getting beaten by a 12 second car. With FWD not attracting the crowds i think thats a 50/50 thing, most of the FWD cars are cars that most people can look at and think, i could own that, where how many people could look at the RC Dev EVO and think i could own that. RWD seems to be more constant, but then again, is anyone going to beat Keith Cowie...
Was trying to think a way of wording what i meant and rob you hit it on the head, No Mr Chelski you can't have the FA cup because Scam U had a better goal differnce throughout the year

Chris, I think I got the slowest 1/4, only did 2 runs after my problem, and ended up with a weak 14.01 @ 107
