that's a mighty kind offer man, thanks

will let you know how the visit goes on monday, anyone got any ideas of what price i should maybe offer? obviously it's difficult not seeing it yourself but ballpark is very useful. i gotta vanish up north now in my trusty steed to the lovely wirral if anyone knows it. so silence from me for a bit, but i'll be back soon, whoring myself out on my own thread sucking up information from you guys.

and if i do get it, it would give me a grand excuse to test it if i had to trek down south. oh no, what a shame  :D

That vit might fetch a grand seeing as it's a 99 model and looks tidy.

The Vitesse Sport is the nicest interior and most comfortable of any Rover I have driven (Inc 220 Turbo Coupe, VVC Coupe, 620i,820i, Vitesse (180),Vitesse Sport, 214 Bubble.) It just has all the gear! I know it's a big car but it still goes so well! And costs about the same as a large TV! I know most of this applies to the ti as well, but the Vitesse just is that bit more car in the end.

it is quite tidy and the way the fella was talking he wants something similar to that sum. had a few things wrong, disks on the rear were worn unevenly (top edge worn less than rest of disk) so will prob need changing, severly weeping cam cover, interesting electric windows that kinda reminded me of the car in
"The Plank".

but, it drove ok, sounded good, no undue noises anywhere. gonna keep it in mind but it's also gonna need a full major service so what, prob £400 of stuff to do to it.

will keep looking i guess and see if that one comes in at a decent price.

*edit* just spotted thison ebay! i did want rear legroom... :D

keep an eye on ebay to see how much the vitty goes for. I have a spare set of rear discs if you decided to get it.

That limo has been on and off ebay several times...does need a bit of work. prefer the other type by Regency:

Common problem with the rear brakes. I bet the handrake isn't too sharp either ;) You can get a pair of rear discs on ebay for £15 (often genuine). Rear pads about the same. Cam cover gaskets about £10 tops at Rover Stealer prices. Service bits say £30-£35 for oil, plugs, air filter, oil filter. Add another £20 for a cam belt if you want to change it.

So about £75, bit better than £400 ;)

oh, ok. i was banking on paying someone to do the work for me cos i don't trust my skills with the brakes and i haven't really got anywhere to do the service myself where i live. guess i'll just have to evict my parents' cars off their drive ;)

also the car needs a major service (it's due the 120k one) and i don't yet know what is involved in one of them since this would be my first rover. is it the same as other makes?

to be honest bud, rear brakes are a doddle, and 800s are not that hard to work on :). Get a haynes book of danglies deluxe and start tinkering lol. you will learn loads, and keep the running costs down :)

yeah, i thought it would need doing. think i'll probably follow the advice and do the work myself, then perhaps take it to a garage and get it checked over before i venture out onto the highways with intent. better safe than dead

I can help you with problems mate, I'm based in Coventry so not too far away, and I work for free (well maybe....would need a constant supply of Tea and Biccies, oh.... they would need to be HobNobs as well, not those nasty Rich Teas :D).
A service is all fluids...ie. oil, brake, water and filters. Would also take care of brake pads etc on a major one, but as mentioned the Cam belt is due as well as Alternator belt.

the cam belt on the 2.0 isnt too much of a problem and can be done on your drive, however the 2.7 is more involved lol, can still be done, but i would get someone who has done one before to stand over you lol

the car is rapidly approaching my cutoff on the auction so dunno if i'm gonna be lucky enough to get it. if so i shall be in touch man, thanks again :)
