This is a hard one to call, there are a number of reasons for each car.
My favourite family are the R8's including the coupe and 400, all of them!
I've wanted a coupe since I was about 5 years old when they were new and finally have one, I love the looks and I enjoy the drive.
I have a soft spot for the classics of course, and I love the mk 800- so clean and uncompromised in styling.
600 is the best looking car other than the coupe in terms of proportions, I wish the pert rear had been carried over to the 75.
And I wonder if we will ever see the stunning 75 Coupe as a RWD V8? Let alone whether it'll be built at home or not?

I'm split between the 600 and 75. I have had two 600s and my dad one 600 and a 75. The 75 beats the 600 for comfort - the two nasp 620s were very good, but the 75 is much quieter.
However, the 600 is a lovely looking car - even the French declared it to be the most beautiful car in the world when it was launched. The french prasing a british built car, now that's praise!

My favourite rover is any 200 (R3) or 25 derivative. You don't get a better supermini interior than in the 25, particularly so when the facelift interiors were introduced. The styling hasn't really dated and the K-series is as quick as ever! What 1.4 does 0-60 in 10 seconds ey? most trundle along with 90bhp.
I'd have to say my liking for these cars began when mum purchased her brand new 214i 8v in Kingfisher blue, in 1996. MY father previously had two R8 200 series and loads of british cars before that.

guess that will not be popular sorry but to be fair you could get 2 or 3 meetings out of them superb car and would have one now if i had the cash

Actually that was a good thing. Mostly the saloon was used for bangerracing, which makes mine now rarer than the coupe.

best Rovers?
Rover 75 by a long way. Not only is it way ahead of any current car in terms of looks, styling and from what I understand build quality but its by far the best looking Rover product in decades. When other nice looking Rovers were around in the 60's and 70's other makers also had nice cars. Today the 75 stands alone in a sea of dreary dull looking cars.
I like the 600 from the 1990's and the 25 and 45's look good as well.
Before that the 1970's Rovers with the fins front and rear, TC 200, 3500S etc were nice, well built and in the case of the 3500/3500S high performance models.
I owned two SD1's an earlier 3500 and later 2600. Both performed well but the build quality was truly awful. They have to be amongst the worst Rovers since they broke the high quality reputation of the name.
The early 800's were ugly although the later ones with the grille wre better (except the fast back which was truly UGLY) I saw pictures of the 800 coupe on the austin rover site and thought it beautiful.
I also like the 1960's 3500 Coupe that Government ministers always used to drive back then.
To me Rovers are chrome, leather and wood cars of high quality, decent performance that portray old fashioned virtues and say the owner has "made it" bank managers, headmasters and university professors etc

It has got to be the Rover SD1, it's shape set new standards in car design, and is not old fashioned even by todays standards. An excellent car, despite BL's three day weeks. Ideal model would of course be the V8. The ones which are around today must have been the cream of the crop build quality and sheet metal-wise. Ive had mine for 18months and it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Some say the last 'true' Rover before the Honda era.

Is that second picture posted by flying dutchman an SD1 estate? Never seen one of them before.
JFK, you should see the pictures of the rover 75 coupe prototype! I think there's some on the austin-rover.co.uk website, it really is beautiful!

That SD1 estate is at the Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford. Theres another at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon and according to records one more is in hiding somewhere. If only Rover had launched the estate, it had potential to be a Volvo beater complete with seats in the rear too. Not sure about those repeaters in the wings though! What country is that convertible in?

Hate to agree there Scott, since owning the 800, the 600 feels a little unstable, plus the looks from the 800 is awesome (old skool rocks) especially when you blow past the cars of nowScott wrote:Just to re emphasize the 800 as king, my experience of a 620sli and 620ti has led me to not like them anywhere near as much as any other rover (metro gti mpi, 420sli wedge, 216gti twin cam, 820turbo). so the 600 is bottom of the pile for me, if i was to stack my rovers in a pile....

I've had a MG Meastro ,superb car but prone to rust.
Been a passinger in a heavly modded MG metro, Now that was the best car I have had the pleasure of beening in. Normally asperated and out accellerated cosworths.( in a 1300 ).
I have driven the 200 Not the coupe that is obviously the sites favourite! and are verty nice cars.
I now own the 600 2.0 N/A and the looks are great, its comfortable on long journeys, and although not gut wrenchingly fast, quick enough for british roads. And plenty of room in the boot.
So the 600's are my favourite closely followed by the metro which are fun.
