Because people who make up the prices at insurance companies cut out the faffing about and inject the drugs straight into their eyeballs, meaning they usually come up with some pretty crazy logic and wierd prices.
Or it could be that the 216 is honda, while the vvc is rover, so although the vvc is more powerfull it'll probably spend most of the year off the road with HGF anyway, so you're not going to crash it

It's probably because Norwich union seems to confuse the 1.8VVC coupes with 1.8IS bubbles. Still a bigger engine than a 216 coupe but a less lairy car. Imagine how many 200 coupes have been crashed...

seems reasonable about the alarms, i mean, when i tried to get quoted online with them on a 220 turbo, they wouldn't even give me a quote unless i upgraded the alarm/immobiliser to a Thatcham Approved Cat 1
will have to get another couple of quotes, see what's up......

They usually have a dartboard and when you fone up they throw a dart , and where it lands they multiply the number by 217.769 (or 217.983 if its a Tuesday) thats the price you pay . Or so it seems .

Nah its cos Honda parts are so goddamn expensive to buy! Ignitor anyone
well i've done it all online and got quotes within £50 of eachother for a 216 Honda DOHC engine, and a 218 Rover VVC engine model.
I think maybe the other one was so expensive as there was a full exhaust system and such on it and i'm thinkin the chance that these had been declared on the previous owner's insurance! never mind

anybody explain why? or am i just missing what's going on here?
because Norwich Union are rubbish, simple as. quoted me bonkers a few times now, would never get cover from them. last time for the vitesse they quoted me over £1200, more than £600 more than i'm paying now.
