has anyone on here bought a set of white dials off ebay
there is a firm on ebay selling sets of white dials for £6, just wondered if anyone had bought any and if they are any good.
most of the feedback is good but some people seem unhappy with them.

I've been looking at those aswell, and the heater dial stickers also, for the money you can't go wrong, if your unsure get the clocks from a scrappy and try it on that 1, thats what I'll probably do, then if its ok, swap the clocks over
Just an Idea
I've learnt a lot from trial and error

I fitted em to my dials when i did my bubble dash conversion, heater dials are top notch easy peasy peal and stick
the dials on the other hand you have to do a bit of 'fitting'
all 4 neadles have to come off
(which is a handy time to get the nail varnish out to paint em)
you can then either stick em to the front of your original dials or remove the originals and stick this on on place...
easy enuf and they do look pretty good too, the only problem i came across was getting the temp and fuel dials to read true again after, my advice (and that of the well put together instructions) is make note of the needles positions when the car is on, and make sure when you re fit they return to the same position....
i in the end had to get my car up to running temperature to get my heater needle back on in the right place.
but i will say this, they do look v good when fitted, and if you remove the amber filter from the clocks at the same time they are very visable come night time,
my only neg is that the heater dials do not glow up as before due to the black on white print of the design

I'd use photo paper. Most normal paper has a kind of yellowy tinge to it. I'd also look at laminating the printout.600_Nutta wrote:What do you print them on, just ordinary paperjarewo wrote:if you want ti ones let me know and i'll email them over print them out and away you go:

i decided to cut the markers out with a craft knife and the various other holes.
i will take some pikkies tonight and load them up.
these are laminated to stop them from curling up from moisture. they don't have the km/h numbers though.
got them from this guy, i think he does them all?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1
i think they're pretty good for a quarter of the price of a set of lockwoods!
i got them on without taking the needles off, however, i did break the needle off the fuel gauge fitting them!
this ment a trip to the breakers yesterday afternoon. but when i got near to home i went round a round-a-bout and it fell out of the ashtray and broke the bloody needle !!
so i had to go back to the scrappy again this morning and take the fuel gauge off the only other 600 they had!
so i really wouldn't want to get a set where i would have to take the needles off the pins that hold them are sooooo thin!! they even tapper to almost half its thickness near the needle itself! ( i took apart the one i broke yesterday, took ages to get the windings off to see how it all works lol ) plus they are glued on!!
heres mine after replacing the fuel gauge.....

BTW I ALSO GOT THE HEATER DIALS WITH THIS KIT!! BUT I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO FIT THEM.

I got some white dials from "dials4u"
Quality is good although I have scanned them in to have a little play with adding extra elements.
The added touch that you've done by cutting the markings out as well looks interesting, might give that a go as well..

Did you manage this enlarging the hole in the dial to allow the base of the needle to pass through?RED-ROVER-Ti wrote: i got them on without taking the needles off, however, i did break the needle off the fuel gauge fitting them!

no. the holes for the mileometer and trip meter along with the needle holes were already done.
i would say the holes were the size of the centre circle of the needle itself.
i was able to slide half over the needle to alow "play" to go over the "over hang" of the back end of the needle. if you know what i mean? lol.
i will have a night shot up within an hour or so once its dark enough to appreciate the cutting out of the markers.

Thinking about it I think the ones I have the hole for the needle is as yours were. It's also how the last Lockwood dials I got for my old car were supplued were you had to bend the dial over the needle to slide it on without having to remove the needles (I managed to ping the fuel guage needle when I fitted those)RED-ROVER-Ti wrote:no. the holes for the mileometer and trip meter along with the needle holes were already done.

It'll be interesting to see how yours look with the cutouts, may well make a further mod to mine.

I bought the white dials from dials4u aswell and I managed to end up breaking the temp dial despite being as careful as possible- its not as easy as the instructions make out. I thought it was all ok until it was all put back together but I ended up putting it in the garage, to be told that the extra thickness of the paper dials means the needle doesn't fit back on right (this is for the coupe). Because of this it required quite an effort to connect it up again, and thats how it broke. Cue a trip to the scrappies for an instrument panel and, belatedly, a set of proper lockwoods!
In short, a few quid sounds like a bargain but I wouldnt get them again.
