Rolling road day.

Post by Neil F »

Hi,

anyone interested in a rolling road day?

http://www.rt2468abcd.r8technology.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=58655

We where impressed with the apparent accuracy (both mine and Andy's cars where within a couple of bhp of factory figures and a couple of runs backed up the repeatability of the figures) and the owner is a real nice genuine & knowledgeable guy.

I'll even offer to buy a drink for all who manage to beat my torque figure on the day

Cheers

a single drink yes.....an all you can drink, god no, i'd be bankrupt.

I know your's is chipped, but i also know factory figures on the v8. If your'e chip hit's that high, i'll be very impressed with the chipping on the diesel :)

and i'll be there more than likely, need my new exhausts on though. Just got to find some dodgy backstreet company to sort them out for me ;)

Well if I take my coupe then he'll have to drive his golf, so he'll only be allowed 1 beer :P

G,

yep, it's without a map, just a downpipe and 'zorst'

It's got a map which I'm not telling you about  , but it's going to be pushed a bit further with a 'development' one, then there's the possibility of a touch of Laughing gas :P, hmm maybe I should tell dad to fit a hybrid turbo and bigger front mount too?

Hi Steve,

it's simple enough, they're pretty good engines, they do suffer from tickover till boost as standard but once they get going they're pretty good.

Loosing the restrictive and unnecessary (for MOT anyway) emissions stuff in the downpipe works wonders, then you can start playing with maps, etc. The clutch is the initial limiting factor, but once sorted there's a whole new ball game to be played :D

Don't get me wrong, they're still low revving plodders but they return suprisingly good performance and excellent economy.

Just ask Andy about our trip down 'souf' with a 'Bling' car in front of us, he thought he'd show us a clean pair of heals through the twisties towards Hastings, I had other ideas and kept with him... we had a big ol car trailer on tow at the time as well :D

Cheers

Hi

We have booked Saturday 21st October for a Rolling Road session

The cost per car is £30; this will give you 2 runs back to back.

Click the link to their website for more info about them.
http://www.balmuirgarage.co.uk/rollingroad.htm

There are a couple of pubs within walking distance that serve food as well.

Here is the list so far but if you anyone else would like to come please update the other thread http://www.rt2468abcd.r8technology.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=58655

You can also attend even if you don’t want to put your car on the rollers, just state that when you update the thread.

Posted here because not all of you read the Wales events ;)

Hi peeps,

There is a guy over on the MG ZR forum who will be attending and wanted to know if there were other people that were planning on staying over night and if so where they are staying.

Are any of you planning to stay over? If you are but don't want to let everyone know where can you please PM me so I can advise this guy on possible hotels.

Cheers

Guys

I need to do 3 runs to prove a few things, don't mind paying extra - will this be a problem?

Only need seconds between runs to throw a few switches.

Hi Rich,

It shouldn't be a problem tbh. I will speak to the guy on the day. He was really helpful when we took the golf there and let us play about with settings.

On another note.

Can you all please check the other thread and update if you want to come to the bowling so I can start of book some lanes.
