i think clearance is the main issue, thermostat housing fouls headlamps, you need m series water pump at the back of the block for space reasons also. I think the inlet manifold was causing trouble aswell...

there is a thread with a few decent pictures on here...

nope only clearnce trouble with bonnet is the oil filler cap, graft a 220 bulge into the metro bonnet and you will need a whole load of customizing and fabrication work made up!

its deffo not easy i may attempt it again soon as it went so well once i knew it all lined up, id prob use an m series nasp tho

i thought you had a problem with the turbo clearing the rad?, or is that why you would go for a nasp next?

i think the t series would be too heavy for the metro anyway, would handle like a boat, unless it was in the back 8)

Better off with a VVC as they are much lighter and the metro struggles to get more than 160bhp down anyway.

i'd like to have a go at one like, deviance as you said the T16 is a heavy lump, but that also means more weoght over the front wheels giving more grip, problem i could see would be a skitish back end under breaking....

It's a very sensible point, but turbo power is fun anyway, stick it in a metro and you've got a recipe for very serious fun :D

I'd love to do this. When I've got a nice garage to work in, I'll do it, honest :)

The T16 would make the tro nose-heavy, but a few sandbags in the boot may help the balance and keep the back end in check. Capri-stylee :D

on a standard tro Gti, i stuck a 19inch monitor in the boot, and the balance felt much better! still, extra weight wont help with speed :(

Going by the link that was put up about the lad who was in the process of doing a Tro / T16 conversion the idea might be great fun in practice but quarter mile times are never going to match that of its big heavier brother the Rover 200 due to traction issues.

Think is the weight is going to be all over the front wheels, just where you want it for drag racing so hows it going to be crap? really hard rear shocks with some good drag radials in widest you can fit and your away.

IMO i wouldn't botther i would 1.8K on TB's and good track suspension setup and would be having the time of my life. I for one am not really a traffic light racer as a great man once said straights are the boring bits that connect the corners.
