1.4secs and 562mph :P

A bit of a silly question, as it was never a production car and it's rare that anyone accurately "figures" a car.

0-60 less than 6 seconds but not by much and a top speed of around 140mph if you have big enough balls

1/4 mile me and ian (Vi turbo no2)built a red one back in early 2003 and it ran 14.0@100.1mph was estimated at around 170bhp and weighed around 850kg and it had all the interia in it when it was ran

They are rapid enough 8)

mines a non-vvc 1.8, and i keep with ZR 160's  ... infact, i win :D

Top speed is only limited by the gearbox, as a vvc in a metro will pull to the limiter in every gear.

130mph in mine feels slightly unsafe, its more about the thrill factor under 100mph to be honest

With a G-meter, i measured consistant 6.4 0-60 times and top end it pulled off the 130 clock easily onto its limiter.

Yes, there are 3 over on Metropower.co.uk

-one was built by a guy called jamie, uprated intercooler etc and a bit of tinkering saw about 170bhp with a stack of torque, over 150lbs i think.

-another RobVVC, is currently building a 1.8T into a rover 100 shell

-and a guy called liam made a VVC-turbo and last i heard, made around 220 bhp

I went as passenger in one about 2 years ago on the 'Retro Cars' mag. shoot at Brunters. The Metty had a 1.8 VVC engine with Emerald EMS and about 180bhp, IIRC. Great little car!!

It wasnt a VVC it was a 1.8 non-VVC and about as close to a race car you can get on the road, completely stripped out, it might aswell been a race car

Never been in a VVC Metro myself but on the road not alot will keep up with a well driven one and thats a fact, as long as it doesnt have Camacs

why would the fact that its a vvc make it explode?

VVC only effects the duration of the inlet cam, making it open for longer at higher rpms.... i think it worked pretty well, but the guy isn't on MetroPower anymore so haven't heard anything of it recently.

That would be Andy Richards GTi, solid cammed 1.8 on throttle bodies.
