1.8 turbo?

Post by Crome »

Alrite, i was wondering if any one knows where about i can find and buy a 1.8t from the rover 75 i think it is?
I have been considering changing my 1.6 to a 1.8vvc but the 1.8t sounds like a bit more fun and a bit diffrent so im looking into both opitions now.

Any adivce would b great

vvc would be alot easier mate as the turbo engine will need a loom making from scratch and the turbo 75 engine dont use a crank sensor it gets its timing from the cam

easier option is vvc but turbo can be done just alot easier if you decide to use aftermarket ecu aswell eg dta or emerald

they pop up on ebay every now and again,

well intercooled and boost controlled will see 170 bhp and similar torque from the engine 8) - harder than the vvc to do the conversion as said before - as emerald or DTA might need to get involved - but it would be different, and fun, and most importantly - tiiiiiissssssssshhhhhhhhh :)

Thanx for the advice, at the moment im trying to find a garage around my area that will do the work for me as i do not have room here to have a project that will take that long. i would love to try it my self with a mate who knows what he is doing when it comes to swaping engines etc... but just dont have the room!
i think the vvc conversion sounds like the one for me.

tbh you are better off buying a vvc coupe and going from there good ones can be had for around 1grand and have better brakes abs as standard

So u think im better of getting a better base car then building up on it? That does make sence, if i were to do that i would prob try and find a good condition 2.0 turbo coupe, the only reason i was goin to try and swap engines in my 1.6 was to do sumthing diffrent and have a wee project for this year. but now after thinking about it i think selling and buying a better equiped car would be better in the long run.

Thanx for the advice guys, prob saved me alot of cash and tears haha.
