NZ Rover
Hi All,
I used to follow a project http://www.220gti.co.nz which was NZ rover 220 rally project back ages ago when i had my first and second rover. What happened to this, did it get finished?

He ended up with a GT-4 engine in it, circa 350 brake. Dropped off the face of the earth a while back, lol.

I think he was using a 3S-GE.Grant620 wrote:I don't think he did use a GT4 engine did he?C2K wrote:He ended up with a GT-4 engine in it, circa 350 brake. Dropped off the face of the earth a while back, lol.

I thought he put his own GT-4 engine in it, after extensive rebuild? The 3S-GTE. The thread link at the bottom of page one does say 3S-GE though: http://www.rt2468abcd.r8technology.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=55171
He never actually explained himself on the forum though, went a bit hush hush.

No it was 3S-GE. As it would keep him under 2 litres.C2K wrote:I thought he put his own GT-4 engine in it, after extensive rebuild? The 3S-GTE. The thread link at the bottom of page one does say 3S-GE though: http://www.rt2468abcd.r8technology.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=55171

Well amazed at 350 bhp from a 3S-GE, the BEAMS version is 210/220bhp and apparently not much potential for more. The GT4 enine is 2 litre too surely

Very nice chap -
Gary was very welcoming when I went to visit him in Auckland...
Unfortunately the Rover was stripped down to the shell and being strengthened at that point - but had a couple of really interesting afternoons.
NZ is really good if you are into cars...

Forced induced engines incur a displacement penelty (multiplied by 1.4 iirc) in most forms of motorsport. So a 2.0 turbo is classed as 2.8 nasp. 350BHP, as has been said, was what his GT4 made.618ireland wrote:Well amazed at 350 bhp from a 3S-GE, the BEAMS version is 210/220bhp and apparently not much potential for more.
