Anyone find me this car please VE04VDV

Post by lou123 »

VE04 VDV

Is my old ZS 180

Cut a long story short, i owned the car, had my private reg on it, transfered the reg which DVLA allowed me to do even thought the 180 was due to run out of TAX. DVLA new it was being sold on.

Reg was tranfsered to my new car and everything was ok

Until ive just had a letter informing me i am still the registstered keeper and heres a big fat bill for not declaring it SORN

Ive already spoken to DVLA about this and its all going through the motions but in the meantime, if anyone know where this guy is (Birmingham area) I would like to know!

Many thanks

The car is AT THE MOMENT still in my name. He is driving without TAX and also his insurance is VOID due to him not being registered keeper! Yound white guy, say late 20s early 30s, slim, dark hair!

Drink to anyone who car tell me where this car is!

Thanks

your still liable for not sending the the log book away in his name after you sold it, thus prevent this exact thing from happening?

what happened there?

what reg was on the v5 when selling it? did you get the letter from DVLA saying that you are no longer the owner?

hmm, if you posted the v5, but never received the letter, your still liable im afraid as far as DVLA tax grabbers go...

new owner should have hassled you for V5 by now though you hope (if he has your details), or applied for new V5 using new keepers form...

i know im liable for it, even though it was all sorted at transfer. Hence why im pissed lol

New owner had his part of V5, as he needed to TAX car at time of sale iirc - which has now come to light he never bothered!

He knows exactly where i am as he brought car from me but has had no contact!

DVLA are in process of sorting but i would really like to speak to him!

You just need to write DVLA a letter telling them you no longer own it and it will be sorted, dont need the new keepers details.

Fine wont go away though unfortunately :(

It does if you make enough fuss, they tried to get me with the same thing earlier in the year, took it to court in the end and they threw it out. ;)

What are the finer details there ? Your responsible to update the details of the car and if you dont recieve a confirm letter your supposed to chase, what was your case ? :)

Basically, I sold a car, sent the logbook off, and moved shortly afterward. About a year later, my old landlord calls me up saying that there's a rather important looking letter for me, which was a court summons for not informing them of the change of owner.

I went to court, presented them with a letter informing them that the V5 was indeed sent off by me in good faith via the same postal service the DVLA themselves use to send me documents, so if I was to be held responsible for it, I would insist that every document the DVLA send me in the future should be by recorded delivery. If it's good enough for them to send important documents unregistered to me, then they cannot expect me to pay the extra to send things to them via recorded delivery. ;)

Result - Fine considered invalid, and I went home with everything dropped.
