LOL, just noticed my "Best of oil" bit too - what the hell was I thinking when I typed that?

Er.. Oil :D

Hi Jonny,
Chuffed you've done it at last, all those times chattin bout it, hope you enjoy it, im sure its lovely to drive is it quite linear in power? or does it need more mapping first?

Congrats,
Mark

Grant620 wrote:Just to say, this isn't really a T-16 vs Honda debate - it's a post about Jonny's car and the credit he is due.
BUT, T-16 is low compression compared to the Honda, which is why it makes such little power from the boost.
I'd still rather have my oil leaking O-series rip off T-16... BUT, I have to say I REALLY like Jonny's car - and Mark's, etc, but never seen Mark's with the blower.
Horses for courses though ain't it?

I didnt start a debate against T series :) i already knew which way I wanted to go when I first swapped my very nice M reg 220turbo with Rich A for a G reg 1990 CRX that was known on the uk forum as "The Lemon"

Remember though that both mine and Jonnys cars are 1600cc's - not 2.0 or 2.1 when quoting the lower C/R as the reason for the power differences ;)

Like you said - this thread is about Jonnys car - and the way hes put it all together. As I had the only boost capable/large injector ECU he could get at short notice I was in the nice position of having the first ride in it under boost :D.
Ecu, large injectors and my wideband were fitted for the first time at 11.00 at night in a Maccy D's carpark! - 20 mins of road test later and it was decided he was going to run at Coombe! The car ran very very well for its first time out - and Jonny must have huge cahoonas to take it on the track less than 12 hours after running boost for the first time! Very impressive and well engineered mate - just need to get it mapped 100% now and then we can make some real power!

FYI as a general rule - a B16 running at 6/7Psi on a GTiR T28 will make between 210-230hp depending on tune and intercooler used.

BTW - It looks remarkably similar to a typical Mark install - right down to the incorrect fitting of the oil drain first time round ;)

Echo what has been said J, very nice motor 8)

It was never a case of if, but when! Agree with Mark, for you to thrash the logger out of it on track hours after "bolting on" the turbo, takes some courage :)

Nice one.
