My cars faster than yours , so ner

Post by Cableguy »

Went for a curry last night and one of the staff must have heard some surge or the exhaust, either way he immediately puts his top gear spiel on.

"Whats in that mate" - i told him it was a 1.4 to start with until someone with me told him to try it next time he sees it about

Then he comes out with , in his smug voice "will it beat a 330ci thats been chipped"

I quite modestly replied with "most likely"

He then gets the defensive on ( only at this stage did i realise he was on about his Y reg bog standard 330ci outside the window ) by stating his car is .... wait for it..... 450 bhp as its been chipped

Tried to tell him that theres no chance , and thats quite a bit faster than an M3 , he then moves to the fact its "not the original engine though"

Oh well , best one ive heard in a while so thought i would share :)

Find it quite irritating when people lie about their cars, so futile. Still generally it ties in with the person sharing their genes with a brussel sprout. I hope you humoured him with a nice smirk/laugh?!

I had a tickle with one in my standard turbo and it kept up with no apparent issues... so they're not exactly dog slow, must feel remarkably boring in such a well refined car tho :)

Oh agreed they arent dog slow , but they are far from fast. Just a big heavy cruiser ( 1500 kilo )

They arent that boring either tbh , we have a convertible version ( 1650 kilo ) in 318 guise ( 150 bhp ) and that isnt that bad really.

330ci/d will keep pace with a standard Rover Turbo no problems.

Depending who gets the better start dictates whether the BMW driver ends up with a red face when he discovers that he can't get past ;) :D

After my turbo/exhaust upgrades, I took great pleasure in catching up (while not once going over the 70mph speed limit I must add) and proceeding to overtake a 330ci, allowing him to take a damn good look at my 418SD badge when we slowed for the lights at the end of the carriageway.

He had quite a large lump in his throat.

BMW drivers, you can't expect much really...

M3's aren't exactly that quick either.

I think my answer to "will it beat a 330ci thats been chipped?" would of been "Why would I care?" followed by "Where the feck is my curry?" :P

Don't know about the 330 ci but had a blast against a 330 d and it was quick .

Lot of bull$hitters about tho when it comes to conversation.

I think that would have been my reaction too  peaple who have no idea what they are going on about and still try to get one over on you really do my nut...... you can tell right from the start of the conversation so you just have to try and end it as quickly as you can

On another note, i had a bit of a blast up the duel carridgeway a few months back in a 330d e46 with about 80,000 miles on the clock, started from some lights next to a P plate imprezza turbo (big wheels, loud exhaust, dump valve etc) i was neck and neck with him at first....... then i went past, and he was giving it the full beans

The 330ci is a very nice car to drive, would only have a coupe M sport mind.... very responsive and almost bullit proof, although for me, i would be much happier in a Ti

Hi Folks,

Oh yes. I do love passing "those superior cars". Theres nothing worse then a merc/bmw/audi owner who thinks he king of the road then getting left behind.

Prior to to the T16 transplant i had efi with K&N induction kit, cold air ducting, full janspeed exhaust, rover 216ecu, poly bushes, 2" lowered/uprated suspension, 16" alloys.

One particular night i was on some backroads and a Range rover sport pulled out in front and floored it. I booted it not expected to be anyway, but much to my surprise i kept on his tail. He couldnt get away because of the bends. So i kept up with him till i turned up off at my junction. So funny.

Fast enough to be fun, and balanced enough to handle very nicely indeed, that's all I care about. Not going to out drag any Coupe turbos anytime soon though. ;)

Ive never come against any in my Rover Turbos ver the years but my mates 330d (chipped 222hp on MO RR) was easy prey for the Ep3. I was worried, till we had a play at many speeds, and it was so easy , i was literally toying with him. Cant imagine a stock Rover Turbo is that much slower than a JDM EP3.

My usual way of dealing with people who are chatty and like to spiel crap is... 'get in and i'll take you for a drive'

Nice and friendly like :D
