Was the metro like the mini as in having all the seams on the outside? Could they be smoothed off?

No - the seams are internal, as in most other cars, so there is no need to smooth. The only exception is the roof gutter and that was standard practice back in the 1980s before the (generally useless) "hidden" rain gutter became the norm.

no joke, gt3076-wg, DKE crank, arrow rods, accralite pistons, 1650cc. scholar evo4, DVA head, paul ivey valves, piper cams/double springs/Ti caps, dry sump'd. was a monster, but unfortunatly never got it running and no-one wanted it in one piece.

if my other hdd worked id have some pics of my mk2 with a vvc engine in the front of it :D

my g/f's metro died because she drove into the back of a van.

Whats the front bumper off is that standard with the hole? I love that metro i like black bumpers on them. Color coded bumpers can look a bit tacky on some colors.

Cheers. Needs Lowering fullstop.

I will be cracking on with it in the coming weeks so I will do a thread as and when it's done. Got most things ready now except the gearbox and I need to give the stripped down GTi calipers a paint, they came up mint after sitting in a box of vinegar for at least 4 months!

I thought that when I saw yours, then spotted it didn't have the quarter panel stickers so thought 'Ah, his rear arches have been done!'

It's a 1.4, not that it makes much difference! Bought it with 7k on the clock, garaged it's whole life by some 90 year old bird who had never even tuned the radio in or fitted the aerial, also had seat covers from new. Then I get it, smoke in it, stick it on the rollers, bung cut slicks on it and ready for the rest of the gubbins.

Ready for it's conversion though!

must of been built quite near each other i guess..got mine from 32k, girl and father before that, still have original receipt!
