porshe 911 vs me

Post by chewy121 »

dont want to start up any comments about speeding etc, but just couldnt resist telling you this one, heading up are local private test strip fri night, i was taking me time as i usually do and this porshe came up behind me, now i could tell by lights it was a 911 but anyway i stepped out to over take (dual carrige way) and matey in porshe stepped out too, i though hey this could be interesting so went for it, porshe went for it and guess what he wasnt to hap[py that a rover left him he cought up with me at roundabout and looked over at me and said now get this he shouted over

"nice motor, didnt realise how quick these things are"

didnt catch the badge on back of his porshe was an older model so dont know! but was fun

its even more fun if after a car show you come across some members of an rs group that were bragging about there motors and slagging other motors like rover off, then have some fun with them and leave them, said motors RS turbo and 4x4 cosworth bye bye to both they did really wind me up yesterday so had to be done!!!
not that I condone this behaviour.

Thought they called them Porsche Boxster's...

Standard ones are easy kill, a well driven Boxster S isn't slow however...

If you can afford a boxster I would say you're probably not poor.
However I wouldn't want one, far better things for the money...

I did the same thing with a old style 911 some time ago. I think it was a late 70s job and NOT a turbo. The guy couldn't keep up in a straight line, at the next set of lights he says "Well done" and gives me the thumbs up 8)

i must admit i cant afford a boxster but even if i could there is no way i'd want one. fair enough they are well built but they will always be looked upon as a poor mans porshe. if i had £35000 i'd be buying a 2nd hand TVR tuscan speed 6.....0-60 3.8seconds and top190+ and its a mans car.
well done on beating the porshe mate i love it when you turbo boys eat other cars. R reg coupe turbo. if only i had a couple of grand. :?

Absolute bo**ocks being talked about the Porsche boxster.

A 260bhp boxster s is quicker than just about ANY standard Rover and trust me they are FANTASTIC cars. The only thing wrong with the boxster is that it is bought by a lot of women and ponces. Shame cos is a great car.

And ADSVVCCOUPE......buying a Tuscan is one thing but running it is ridiculous. couple of grand on a service every 6k or whatever.
A small ding in a TVR will cost the earth.
When I couldn't afford a TVR I always thought I would buy one when I could....now I can afford one I won't buy one because I won't pay the price to run it. In the real world I had to go German.(cos I can only realistically have one car)

BUT your plan would work if you kept your Rover for day to day use and put the trevor in the garage for weekends!!!! :D

I have to stand up for the Boxster...it's a great car with image problems.
But just remember this the next time you see a Boxster, the guy driving it might be so confident of his personality he doesn't care what a bunch of nerds on an internet forum think...and he's just happy he is driving the best roadster available ...and thoroughly enjoying it.

PS Wasn't it great that the Porker driver "doffed" his hat as well!!!

I think you'll find the car in question was a Boxster and not a Boxster S.

Yup :D That's gotta be the best part of the story, a "race" is always ruined by the loser getting aggresive/rude/whatever. Keep it good natured :)

Ive never come across a boxster S but its definately true about the boggo boxster. I came up against a yellow one on a B road i know quite well and absolutely slaughtered him... after giving him a damn fine pasting i let him catch up and he pulled alongside beeping his horn and flicking the V's  so naturally i dropped a cog and nailed it :P he wasnt a happy chappy 8)

well if a boxster cost £35,000 then you could have around 15 coupe turbos for the same price 8)

Leo....I know HE was talking about a Boxster...but I was just refferring to the Boxster S.

Remember though, most Boxster owners won't want to bother racing anyone including Rovers.(women or ponces generally)

Better out there for the money? I don't think so.
Unfortunately the law of diminishing returns applies strongly with cars. Twice the price doesn't mean twice as good.

Fact is S2000 is a good car, Z4 is a good car, TT is a good car.

BUT the boxster is better than ALL of them.

A decent Boxster S with some spec is going to cost WELL over 40k though.
SO.....even though it is not a "roadster" as such....thats M3 time for me.

Why are you trying to compare a Saloon against a Roadster....?

Totally different cars so a comparison is not even worthwhile. I thought it was obvious that we are JUST talking about Roadsters her.

Who said we were JUST talking about roadsters?..

You said there wasnt any out there better for the money, and i was just pointing out the EVO being cheaper then the Boxster s by quite abit was a better car for the money..

If ur talking bout roadsters only fair enough..

Boxster S' are really good cars the Chassis is spot on, the engine is in the right place and they're pretty nippy. Unfortunatley it Bastardises the Porsche brand. 911=Enthiusast, Boxster=Poser

at 40k thats M3 or a Used 993 Turbo money. I know what I'd choose.

If you want a better Roadster get a Eunos Roadster S-Special....

Glass fibre version of the standard road car with a mazda speed engine putting out 150bhp..... my one out did 911's

It weighs nothing and goes like stink. costs about £12000 but you be hard to find one as only 150 were made

Don't know if you call it a roadster, but are you all forgetting the VX220 turbo!

£25k and gets to 60 is 4ish seconds!

Boxster, Boxster-s wouldnt stand a chance!

Anyway, just like to say my favourite encouter so far was a non-turbo vx220 who completely underesimated my coupe-t when he pulled alongside, looked smuggly across at me and then went for it, only for me to pull out and follow him all the way up the dual carriageway, lol!

Yeah I like the VX Turbo....don't know if it could be called a roadster though.
Personally I would buy the new toyota engined elise instead of the VX.
Similar power/performance without the nightmare of a Vauxhall badge.

Badge snobbery is awful...but I just can't help it!
