What car did you learn in?

Post by keironewoodgate »

While we're on the topic of giving chris214 some advice on his driving test I was wondering what kind of cars people have used to learn in (own car or driving school)

Mine was Nissan Primera 2.0L 16v (driving school  ).
420gsi Turbo, gone but not forgotten.
New toy? BRG Coupe turbo with cream leather!!

1.0L micra - first half - ok i suppose, very light steering, felt a little out of touch from the road.
1.1L Citroen AX - second half, mum's car. Still drive it when I'm home. Slow as hell, but can be fun, especially when leaning silly amounts round corners. Crap brakes.

1958 Morris Minor or Peugeot 104 GL (don't knock it, 950cc and quicker than my mates 1.3 Fiesta at the time  :D ) They were both mine, and instructor had a nice 1.0 Metro City

Dunno if I consider myself lucky or unlucky, but I had the very first test done on a Saturday, 1st April 1988  Kept waiting for the examiner to say April Fool after he told me I'd passed!

HGV test was done in this!

I learnt in a Toyota Corolla,
Took my test in a Mazda 323 (After the Toyota was crashed the day before my test  )
And then terrorized the streets in a Metro 1.0 and a Peugeot 309 1.6 learning all the things that driving lessons don't teach

I just cant remember.

The mid 80's to mid 90's are all a bit of a drunken haze really for me, thanks to my stint when I was in the Fleet Air Arm.

I thiink it would have been E reg or earlier as that was the new reg. Might have been a Micra
