Sometimes I feel like I must be a complete spammer. I feel a bit uneasy with my "veteran" tag because I've neither been here from the beginning, nor do I know lots of stuff about cars.
However, checking my profile I have posted on average less than 4 posts a day - so that's not so bad really. I just have alot to talk about, and most of the time it's about cars.
I'm going to send my few quid off to join the PRG soon, mainly because I want to help with the upkeep of Rovertech, but it will have the nice side-effect of preventing my tag ever saying something grossly misleading like "rovertech genius"!

174 posts doesn't mean you don't come on the site much though, and doesn't mean you don't know your beans.
The number of posts doesn't really reflect a members knowledge, or how often they visit the site.

Generally, long term regular contributors tend to have more posts.
Occasionally you get the "yeah" and "lol" posters who merely reply to topics with answers that either make no sense, or have no input at all.
They also tend to have high post counts.
You also have lurkers, who have been on here ages, but don't often post. As you say, they might well know their onions, but we have no way of knowing until they post a response.
Should we have a rating system based on knowledge vs post count?
Feck knows how we could do that?

Do you wanna tell that to George?
I have posted an incredulous amount of times but doesn't mean I'm necessarily a post-whore, it just means that I enjoy the RT community and frequent it a lot, I do post the odd LMAO or LOL etc but most of my posts are giving recollections of things that have happened to me, offering advice on things I feel I have a grasp on, welcoming newbs and most importantly posting witty remarks to keep morale up, lol.

And all I wanted to know was "at how many posts was the next step"
Seems like even the most mundane of posts can spark a few replies.
Moderators: can you change my post count to "who cares"?
Its one less thing for me to worry about and would no doubt stop me from posting pointless topics and unfunny LOL's
