Country lane, Paul had stopped in a "passing place" - but a N reg Mk2 414 which was hooning down the hill failed to stop in time. You can see on the road the length of the skid, where a stone lodged under his tyre....
gutted, it's a real mother hen when something like that happens, we'd only had Clare's 25 kitted and painted for 4 full days when someone wiped out her rear qtr, keep the belief in it though and sort it, it's worth it in the long run and you soon learn to ignore the set backs.
It was his fault and he admitted it whilst I took pictures, he was a nice chap mind you who was a little late for work so in a rush. I felt sorry for him in some way, he was only Third Party. There is no point in getting pissed off and having a go at someone at an incident like this - could harm you later on in the claim proceedings etc. Someone I used to know is in Prison atm for beating the logger out of someone who smashed into his car, lol.
With regards to the car, without the bumper off we don't know whats going to be happening. I really suspect the insurance company of the other guy (Direct Line) will write it off. How much is a bumper alone?
Paul is adament that it will not leave his hands however, if it is written off, he will definately need it back - understandably. Nothing on the car has been untouched since Paul has had it. A number of people on here who have followed his web site will remember he spent weeks of his annual leave last year working on the 420, he hadn't really got round to enjoying it properly yet
Gutted!!! Its a shame when things like this happen At least the other chap is admiting fault. The damage doesn't look to bad it will probably be worth negotiating with the assessor if he opts to write it off. If its boarderline sometimes with a bit of persuation they will repair. Either way keep hold of it mate as its the best 420 around.
Audi B6 S4 Avant
Rover 221 coupe turbo 255.5bhp & 256.1lbs/ft (in the garage)
Rover 214 Mk3 Turbo Conversion (in bits)
Rover 416 GSi (in the garden)
'tis but a flesh wound, will be sorted in no time with a wing/headlight/indicator - bumper and the panel tweaking behind is an arse though, unlucky.
Never let it leave your sight/property, insurance assessors can view it at your house etc - possession 9/10ths of the law even if they do write it off. (and hey - the writeoff fee minus 10% is probably more than it'll cost you in bits/time to fix it yeah?)
Cheers for that marko, Paul won't let it go anywhere, I think a lot of people read that guy with the 825 derv's story and are very cautious following that.
Worse case it gets written off, we have the tooling to fix it, or Paul has a good bodyshop mate.
Martin - not Paul's right hand, just feel for Paul with his car like this.
Aww Crap ..... not a pleasant thing to see at any time, especially when you've spent so much time on the car. Best of luck with it, whether its a w/o or repair.
What a bummer, my heart goes out to you. My car looks pretty much the same. I know how it feels.
I really like the 420 as well, got to be worth getting back and fixing up.
Good luck mate.
Thanks again guys....you are giving me some hope...
Theres one thing i heard today, that was on a single track lane, most insurance companys do a "knock for knock" claim...pose because of the fact that NO driver has right of way.
Although the driver did accept responsibility.. and i have a witness to that.
Anybody heard this?
Paul
White ZR Turbo - gone - but new one on its way...

If you were in a passing point then surley that wouldn't count?
Also you were stationary....
Hmm, not sure about that one. I did pre-warn Paul as I've heard of similar cases where they have claimed "knock for knock", one involved of friend of mine's car that was stationary.
Not sure whether being in a passing place makes a difference though....
