ZT CDTI Buying Advice

Post by lennox1185 »

Going to see a 2004 ZT CDTI 135 manual later today.

Anything I should be looking out for?

Never mind, been to see it and I'm collecting it tomorrow.

Got the usual water in the boot to sort, but that seems to be it.

make sure it starts

make sure it revs past 3800

check boot release

check ecu compartment for water

check for water in the boot

check for any warning lights

check clutch is smooth and feels good

snapped front springs seem common

ECU is dry.

Front shocks and springs done last year, with receipt.

Clutch done last year with receipt.

Drives in a straight line, stops in a straight line.

Water in boot will be either the stupid rear light gaskets, which have a split in them from new, how on earth they ever expected that not to leak I don't know. Or the other stupid design of securing the rear window trim clips to the body by making a hole in the body, then sealing it with a foam washer which perishes and then lets water in. And to replace the clips properly, you need to remove the bonded rear window.

If not those two, then it's probably the side finisher trims.

Other than that, they are a lovely car! :)

Door latches can be a pain,

Clutch should be nice and light, dont worry about the flywheel too much :D

I siliconed my rear lights along the top an adjusted the striker so the boot sits furthur down
(more pressure on the rubber)
That fixed the boot
