True, he won't tell you, and if he does the thread will be locked then deleted. You have to bear in mind that Tom's is nowhere near standard too.

Stick your details on a insurance companies website and you'll get an idea :D

Rough idea TPFT
17 - Urm no Chance from most companies, those who will £4kish
18 - NO NCB £3.5k - 1year NCB £3000
19 - NO NCB £3k - 1 year NCB £2.5k 2year NCB £2k
20 - NO NCB £2k - 1 year NCB £1.5k 2 year NCB £1200 3year NCB £1000

VERY rough ideas but carnt be far from trueth.

Its an away victory again.

Ive actually heard that wages are considerably lower in New Zealand. In which case all these savings Gary makes on practically everything may not be as large as we are led to believe. Gary?

It's all relevant at the end of the day. Wages as a whole may well be lower, but so is the cost of living. I am actually far better off here in NZ than when I was in the UK. My salary is higher and it costs less to live :) Means I can afford to build the car of my dreams

Here's the opposite scenario for comparison. In Ireland, getting insurance on anything even vaguely high performance is impossible before 25. Something like a coupe turbo would be completely out of the question.

I was talking to a 24 year old work colleague the other day. He has a 1.1 litre Ford Fiesta. He recently passed his test, has no NCD and no points either. His insurance costs him over 4,000 euros (£2,775) a year. He told me it was this cheap because he agreed to have a tracker installed that kept track of his speed and mileage. He paid about 1,200 euros (£830) to have this installed. If he did not, his insurance would have been over 8000 euros (£5,550).

Now tell me you have it bad over there!

No, this is in the Republic of Ireland. I think I've heard that Northern Ireland is dearer than the rest of the UK alright, but I expect it is still much cheaper than the Republic.

northern ireland is pretty bad.
I couldnt get anything decent until I hit 25 and even then I had full NCB.
My last re-newal on the 620ti (without mods) with elephant was IRO £800.

I've just had a quote for an evo 8 and it's coming in at £1450 so thats not too bad. I paid £1200 when I first got the Rover

Lots of things are expensive. Taxis are expensive, and they constantly moan about what a hard lot they have. Every few months they hike their rates. A pint of lager in the city will be around the 5 euro mark. Sometimes you might get it for nearer 4.50 or so, but that's quite rare now. Most late bars hike the price of the pint after a certain time too. They say they must do this because they have to pay the bar staff extra to work later. I wonder do they really pay the staff more though or do they just keep the extra for themselves?

Anyway, don't let that put you off. Even with my jaundiced view of Dublin, I still think it's an absolutely great place to have a night out.
