MGRover Press Pictures

I thought before Rover totaly close down I will do a "wget" on their server where all the press-pictures are located.
So now I have about 1000 pictures (ca. 1GB).
Some show the history of Rover-cars, some the history of MG-cars. Then a lot of pictures from 25 / 45 / 75 / 75tourer, ZR, ZS, ZT, ZT-T, F, TF.
Also some pictures from various XPower project, the 75coupe, TCV.
And lots of pictures from BTCC, Rally (with a 25 or ZR?), 24h of Le Mans, and other pictures concerning MGRover and Motorsport.

So if there is interest in some of the above, let me know it I will then host parts or all of it.
BTW, all the images are in very good quality (as released for the press to add in newspapers / magazines), most of them in 2395x1795 pixels.

@Scott: Hm...don´t know what postage would be from UK to GE and vice versa

Ok, i will put the JPG´s in some archives and put them on my server. Will post the links here when they are up.

Postage wouldn't be much from Germany.

Instead of listing them just as seperate files, could you upload them as a big zip file, so for those who want all of them can just download one thing?

i would be more than happy to host these on my private FTP server, upload is only 25 or 30k/sec though, but is 24/7...

Tritium, if you want i can start leeching these this evening to help your load?

There seem to be some other pictures then on the german MGRover press site. If there is demand for it, I will intergrate the pics into some RAR-archives for easy downloading.
Will take me some time to upload the archives to the server, but once they are up you can download them fast....until the 20GB/month are reached...

@Ed_harasym: If you have some nice pictures of either race series, I can integrate them to the racing-pictures found on the german MGRover-server (there where none on the UK one :?)

So I´m now merging the two "wget" results together, in the end it should be around 1200 pics with about 1,2GB. So I´m thinking about splitting things up.
E.g. a 25archive, 45archive etc?
If I put everything in one large archive (even when in 100mb parts) you have to download everything to extract the pics in the end of the archive.
So what do you thinK?

So the first pics are up on my server. Did take a while longer then i thought, but I had to search for duplicates (GE and UK server) and delete them so that always the pic with the higher resolution is in the archive).
These are pictures of the 25, 45, 75, 75tourer, 75coupe and the 75v8.
The rest will follow...about 100MB each file.

Hmmm...I think it was just in time I downloaded all that was available from there :o
The rest of the MG pictures is still uploading at the moment. The last pictures that will be uploaded are a archive full of Motorsport pics, BTCC LeMans and Ralley, some really really nice images:-)

I hope we (or I...) won´t come into trouble for hosting this pics....copyright maybe, but they were freely downloadable for useing in the carpress, so shouldn´t be a problem....I hope :) :?

The "Apache/1.3.27 Server at pvholdings.com Port 80" makes me think that bit has now been moved to a different server.

So...in April I got over 20GB of traffic only for those imagearchives

One thing I noticed....I pressed the "PostReplay" button....the form to enter your message appears and a few seconds later, the server http://media.mg-rover.com asked me for my Username and PW? :o
WTF is that? Who or what sends data to them when pressing the PostReplay button :?

"Post Replay" had me confused for a minute.
Then, I realised you meant when you click "post reply" :D on this thread.
If you go to page 1 of this thread there is a hot link to a picture at http://www.media.mg-rover.com/rover/pic ... 705%2B.jpg which displayed fine when all (anonymous) access was allowed. Now since they have made the folder private where that pic is hosted, up pops the dialog box to supply logon credentials to view the pic.

Clicking "post reply" displays the entire thread in the "topic review" section below which includes that hotlink so that's why the password dialog box appears again.

Maybe I have to remove the archives / pics in the near future due to lack of HDD-space on the server  .
So if someone still wants to dl the files, please do so.
(BTW: The archives caused about 50GB of traffic since they are hosted....so they "distributed" nicely)

PS:I will still keep them on my home-server / PC so if there will be need for them to be hosted again I can do so.
