The car has better bodywork Al :D :D

Paul (Natalie :? ), what do you need? Sad as it seems, a 22 year old car is a rarity these days. Scrappies or motorfactors are the best bets.

10 years ago I robbed a vanden plas in the breakers of it's electric windows and remote central locking for my own beast. They were very rare cars even back then.

What bits & bobs do you need though? Mechanically, they're the same as all other 5 door metros and the engine is a standard 1.3 a-series so parts should still be available from any decent motor-factors.

Hi and Welcome...

There's a tidy Metro Vp (F-reg) in a local Breaker yard Nr. Cheltenham.... just a quick blast down the M5 from Bromsgrove - less than a mile from J11 M5. Alongside the Vp is a Metro "Jet black" G-reg. Both cars would be useful donors to keep your car going.... fancy an electric window upgrade if your car does not have already.

Five years ago I gave my son (MetroMartin over on metropower site here: http://www.metropower.co.uk ) an X-reg MG Metro which is older than he is. He manages that site now and it's a useful one for anyone with Metros or R100s.

Yay, excellent choice of car 8)
I have a 1982 mk1 metro vanden plas (3dr), which i have totally restored, rebuilt/uprated engine/autobox, inside, outside, wheels (original pepperpots), brakes, suspension the lot :D , all as good (if not better) than new.
As for parts, to be honest i am finding it difficult to get most :o
all the parts suppliers were less than helpfull, and i have been trying to source a tailgate door for 3 months :o even all the local scrappies cant help, none of them have a metro (austin) .

thanks for all your suggestions
am looking for silly little things like rooflining, sunvisors, aerial etc
it's pretty tidy at the mo only the normal bits of paint bubbling on the bottom of the doors etc but engine wise its only done 35000 miles so no problems there i'll hopefully get a picture up in the next few days and i'll definately check out that metro site
thanks again, giz. :D

I'd agree about Metropower. My Girlfriend has a 998 Metro and we're both members.

Try Best Of British in Darlaston/Wednesbury (it's on the border and I can't remember which it falls under) just off J9 of the M6. They tend to mainly deal with the newer cars now but still have a few bits and bobs lying around.

Also try Minispares in Oldbury (J2 M5 nexxt to Toys 'R' Us). Despite the name they deal with prety much everything BL.

I would recommend a visit to www.triple-m.co.uk . Someone on there own a VP500, an even rarer beast with full leather interior!
