Tis sometimes a quirky fact of life that "Many a true word spoken in jest"
It may come to pass. Nothing lasts forever - even the UK car buying public's love affair with Bavarian Sierras.

NICE ON, however i would love to see someone like Hyundai or Proton take BMW over (not hugly unlikly, has anyone seen BMWs financial figures? not good reading. VW is currently the only real haelthy German manufacturer, ever merc had to cut a deal with GM.

They've lost their position as Europes largest car company to Renault , and theres loads of big investigations now into VWs dodgy back street dealings involving drugs and prossies .

Actually, Merc joined up with Chrysler, not GM. I thought because the American company was in trouble but maybe it was mutually beneficial

Chrysler is owned by GM.
I'm afraid that's a common misconception. The three big car makers in the States are (including their marques with a US presence):
1. Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep - now own Merc
2. General Motors - Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Hummer, Olds, Saturn, Saab
3. Ford - including Mercury, Lincoln, & of course Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Volvo, Mazda
I think that covers it!
