Post by Metromartin »

Am i the only one who thinks this is a bit stupid, I mean someone goes around with a flyers to say they think your car is crap!!?

http://www.barryboys.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18443

Ok on the web where the owner dosn't know about it I cant see no harm and some cars are really bad but its everything and anything now that is slightly different from standard spec!

As the first reply on the thread says, neither are particularly barry, but they're on a slippery slope.

I know neither Rob nor Martin have shopping lists or HKS stickers all over their cars. That's because they wouldn't do that to their cars. 99.9% of the posters on Barryboys are car enthusiasts like you and me who actually do like nicely/tastefully/functionally modified cars, they just don't like pointless and trashy modified cars. I agree though that sometimes some posters can cast the net a bit too wide.

Anyone who has posted pics of their cars here with stupid spoilers and awful paint schemes and tacky stickers usually doesn't get a great reaction here either.

I have lost count of the number of perfectly acceptable cars that have been venomously attacked on BBs

A large percentage of the cars on there are cack, but in an effort to clamour for attention a lot of the posters will join in on a slagging match of something that isnt particularly wrong.

Like the great time they had ripping the p1$$ out of the spoiler on the Scooby, until someone a little more informed actually pointed out it was 100% stock. Then magically they all changed there tune.

I don't mind someone with some sort of credability ripping into sombodys chavmobile, but it annoys me to see a bunch of arrogant knobheads who couln't even change a wheel rip into somebodies hard work for no reason at all. Just my two pennath.

Aaw.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the old Rover 827s. They were the stock traffic car when I first went on traffic.

Don't know why I've got a soft spot really - they had brakes which would fade completely after three hard applications, steering which was waaay over assisted, handled like a barge in a storm and things started falling off them after they'd done 70,000 miles. Oh, and the tops of the doors used to pull away from the body above 90MPH, creating an horrendous amount of wind noise.

But they had that engine. A 2.7 Honda v6 which was unburstable, and would pull a genuine 135.

Why this fuckwit wants to dress it up like that though I've no idea. You can pick a half decent one up for under £500 these days, so the stickers and wheels have probably trebled it's value.

Shame it's a T16, you fúcking clart.

Michael,

Stop beating about the bush and say what you mean ;)

Have to say though, making silly little tickets and sticking them on cars is just a bit puerile and suggests a complete and utter lack of a life. ;)

I'd LOVE to catch on of the f***ers sticking one on my car.

It's bad enough those idiots sticking advert handbills under your wiper blade but this is beyond the pale.

They wouldn't be sticking one on your car. That's the thing Paul.
I don't understand why it's always "Those Barryboys bastards" when in fact we are generally of the same mind as them. They are car enthusiasts just like us who don't like to see good cars get ruined by getting sh1t stuck to them and naturally get a laugh out seeing some pathetic 1 litre ass-mobile being tarted up as if it were a fire breathing group B rally car.

Putting the flyer on the window of the photographed car increases the chances that the owner will appear on the thread to attempt to defend what he has done to create his shed or simply to start a flame war - which is always entertaining.

Look at the car in the following link. If you think it is ludicrously disgusting, then you have more in common with the Barrybashers than you might have previously thought.

Im glad they have nothing better to do, maybe one day they will grow up/get a life. :x
I wouldnt even waste my time looking on that feckin site, its pointless.
If someone has a badly modded car, so the fu*k what?
And most of the cars on there are decent, well modified cars, plus i doubt any self respecting car `enthusiast` would get involved.

Colin

Let's assume my car was OTT.

I would have done it to suit myself, accepting that it might not be to everybody's taste, but I would be happy with it.

HOWEVER, Unless I specifically asked for an opinion, presumably from my peers ( the members of RT for instance) I would not wish to have such opinion foisted upon me.

Taking the p1ss out of cars is fine by me ( I do enough of it myself) but NOT to the person concerned.

He or she has a right to their ideas and taste and in an increasingly Police State, I see no reason to haul them over the coals in such a direct way.

Also, I'd take a VERY dim view of ANYBODY who interfered, in any way, with my car and that includes sticking flyers under my wiper blades.

However, having said that, I still believe all Chavs should be executed at birth or kept as research specimens ;)

I said this on the last BB thread, my views havent changed and no-noe can pursuade me to change my views. Barryboys sucks, they're all narrow-minded know-it-alls who actually know not a great deal. Anything slightly modified they will totally trash, not just crappy barry wagons so IMO alot of their victims do not deserve it atall. Plus, they not only ridicule the cars but their owners too - they might be really nice chaps! And to cap it all off they have the cheek to sign up to other forums just to cause trouble. And now they're going to the lengths of flyers on cars just to have a cheap laugh at someone elses expense.

If they kept to their own site, ridiculed just the cars (not their owners) and left the modified car world well alone, i couldn't care about them - they're entitled to their opinions.

But they don't - they're twats. They really are though, im not just saying it.

Right where do these analy retentive idiotic morons get off??? I mean what is to say a car is crap just becasue it is not to their taste?? I hate saxos with a passion but then however many million people bought them says it cant be all tat bad but in their minds BECAUSE THEY SAY SOMETHING IS CRAP IT JUST IS OK!!!!

As long as the person who owns it enjoys it and likes what they have done who are we to challenge them I mean if everyone did the same then life would be dull. In my mind the people on their can be grouped in with the sad people who play XBOX games online all day but never actually go out and see people and the do gooders who stand on straight roads armed with a speed gun!!!! GET A LIFE YOU SAD SAD PEOPLE.

Come on Tony, be serious :P

How on earth can we do the required research to eradicate the Chavs from the world if we don't keep specimens for experimentation?

After all, we keep specimens of HIV, Ebola, Haemorrhagic fever, anthrax etc.

Surely Chav is a continuation of this philosophy and containable within suitable Biohazard conditions.....

Hmmm, no, perhaps not ;)

Apart from the blue fog lights, and possibly the silver wipers there's feck all wrong with how that 600 looks. In fact, I rather like it.

Those cobblers need to grow up. And if they're posting pictures of cars on the net they should have the courtesy to edit the plates ffs.

The question I can help thinking is what type of person carries round a camera and fliers to abuse a random car they dont like with?

Actually - the more educated people tend to pick on Barry shite that I would drive past laughing if it were on fire.
Newbies tend to pick on non barry motors - and generally get slagged for it - I not barry or hardly barry at all.

What happens here is that someone has their car discussed- and then all their mates come out in force. Most of their mates are just "Kroozers" and cant see the shite for the bodykit.

114gta wrote:And to cap it all off they have the cheek to sign up to other forums just to cause trouble. And now they're going to the lengths of flyers on cars just to have a cheap laugh at someone elses expense.

Most of the time they dont bother - some hardore members enjoy a bit of banter and will "stir" a little looking for a reaction. 99% of the time the chavs will oblige

114gta wrote:If they kept to their own site, ridiculed just the cars (not their owners) and left the modified car world well alone, i couldn't care about them - they're entitled to their opinions.

I'll take that on board - and dismiss it as quickly as I would a chav with the same opinion - it really doesnt worry me :D
My opinon is that £6k on a huge bodykit that killed performance of the base 1.1/1.4 was a waste of time. Then you see cars that have had "about £20k" spent on them - and still cant outrun a Trabant at the lights - and its on Ebay with a starting price of £2500 and no reserve - show me the sense in that! Kevin the chav would have been better off saving the £20k, gettting the 2/3/4/ years no claims (plus savings on modded car insurance) and using the £20k+ to buy and insure what he really wanted.
These kids say they cant afford to insure the more powerful cars, but hten they pay loads more for the insurance (or dont declare the mods)

They all want to be In-Duuuuuur-vid-Jewel - and they all end up looking the fookin same !
Once you have seen one bling painted, super bodykitted, 19" rimmed 1100 shopping trolley you have seen them all.
Like I said - thats my opinon. I know others will talk about being too young to physically afford the more powerful cars, and we will always get the young ones moaning about the cost of insurance being the factor. Where are the sensible youngsters (As much as it pains me Ste springs to mind ;) ) who take a tidy 214, dont "bling it up" and just to tasteful mods until they can afford a turbo? The resultant 214 can then be sold to another young enthusiast for more money than the mynheer kitted, 19" rimmed metalflake painted 214 that the youngsters cant afford to insure!

As we started pointing out here - Everyone has a right to an opinion and no-one is forced to go onto Barryboys unless they want to.

Well, theres always a few exceptions to the rules.

In my experience, and i have read through quite a few of the posts, the intelligent comments range from, "This is an example of hideous cack" or "This brain dead moron hasn't got the sense to set fire to the heap" or other such wondefuly constructive comments.

Infact, sadly i seem to spend an inordinate ammount of time dealing with these type of know it alls for a living - a little bit of knowledge as they say.

Im sure they are more than happy paying someone X hundred to change a filter and some plugs on there non barry mx5s (mini dig).

Intelligent or not, its accademic unless they have some sort of experience of what they are waffling on about. I mean i'm sure i could bluff my way through a 4 page post on common law, but does that qualify me as a lawyer?

I'm not a fan of the underpowered over styled shopping cart, but I consider myself a fair person, and can respect that it may not be to my taste, but if its been well done and the work put in, then fair play - each to his own as it were.

Not everybody wants a fast car, and to be honest, with ever tightening rules and regulations owning a turbo can be a trial. Some people just like the "look" of a car more than the performance factor. Who are we to disagree?

At the risk of reittertating myself, If somebody with some clue of what they are talking about - makes some cutting comments about a heap of a vehicle - fine. When some clever trevor tries to bullsh1t about something he so obviously knows nothing about - thats what gets my back up.

I recently had to educate a mechanic of "13 years experience in the trade" with his amusing attitude to headgasket failure, and how all BL/BMC cars were rubbish. I for one am happy we have a clued up member of RT on the inside as it were - ready to stamp this sort of rubbish before it gets to far
