Hi welcome to Rovertech :)

I think you might have got your wires crossed a bit as there is no such thing as an 800 Ti.

The turbo 800's are called Vitesse. The normal Vitesse (Or Vit as ppl here tend to call it) is 180ps and the Vit Sport is 200ps and has bigger wheels and slightly lower uprated suspension.

The 600 turbos are called Ti, or 620 Ti. They have the 200ps 2.0 turbo engine, same as in the Vit sport. It was the only Rover engined 600, the other models (including the NASP 620) are all Honda engines.

Hopefully you'll be able to tell us which model you need to know more about and we can go from there :)

Correct. Overhere they are badged 820Ti instead of Vitesse. RS however doesn't ring a bell at all.
Job.

In all of mainland Europe it was badged the Ti, as Vitesse has no heritage over there :), i do belive some had RS on the back denoting 'rover sport', but it was a purely dealer fit gewgaw

I'm sure the RS comes from the EPC, 800 series = RS.

I will check but that means altering the time on my pc, brb.

RS = 800.

RH = 600

200/400 = XW

Who's a clever boy then ?. I was thinking of badging my 800 as an RS when I first saw it. And I wouldn't be lying now, would I ?

Totally wrong about the fact that Vitesse has no heritage here. We had lots od SD1 Vitesses, so I also don't understand why Rover did this.

And errrmmm.....I'm not that easily offended....ever heard Welsh? :twisted:

It is the 820ti rover, but it was not on mass production, they only made about 1000 cars and 200 of them had a steering wheel on the left side.
there is one on sale in my country and i just wanted to know if any of u know anything about this car? The car is very rare and i dont want to buy it without knowing anything about it.
prod year is 1995 the same year when Rover released the Vitesse sport.
it has a 2.0L turbo engine that is used on Tomcats.
well if anyone dont know anything about this car then i would be glad if anyone could tell me anything about the engine or the 800 series body. the reliability, most common thing to break ect.
btw the car has a mileage over 200.000 km

Most common problem with all T series engines, used in turbo and non turbo cars is a leak from the front right hand side of the head gasket. It's caused by the seal in the oil way getting blocked and forcing oil out. Looking at the picture of the engine in that car, there seems to be no leak so I suspect it's either had the gasket replaced or it's been well looked after.
If you look near the distributor cap, under the end of the rocker cover, and there is a small rectangular piece of metal gasket sticking out where the head meets the block, it's probably a Klinger gasket which is made of three layers of metal. This is a reliable gasket and shouldn't need changing again unless something causes it to go like a coolant loss resulting in overheating of the engine and warping the head.
My 800, although not a turbo, has covered 267000 miles ( 427000 km) and is still going strong. It has a full service history so I know it's been well cared for.
All in all, the car looks very tidy.

One other thing, check the gearbox for noisy bearings as this is a general fault with all PG1 gearboxes, the type fitted to the 800 cars. It isn't a big job to get sorted if they are noisy but again, if they are not, then the car has probably had a gearbox rebuild/exchange at some time.

How much is it selling for?

well it costs about ~2000 euros. the owner told me that there is a minor leak of oil from the motor. the gearbox sounded nice... shifting was nice and smooth.
engine was quiet, but when parking with engine on, there was a slight vibration. The only consern was the turbo, he told me that he had changed it three times already in the past 2 years, but he had increased the turbo power to 0.9 bar's.. Rpm's were between 800-900. those pictures are about 1y old :mrgreen:

Judging from the photo's I'd say you have what we call in the uk a "vitesse Sport", you've been given the lowdown on the engine and gearbox problems, so as a longterm 800 owner I'll help with the other possible issues to check for.
Electric windows can start playing up at about its age, but is nothing serious since its caused by dry joints on the fusebox circuit board under the dash and can be easily rectified by by resoldering.
Check the fuel lines and tank, as these can be prone sometimes to corrosion. Also the handbrake cams in the rear calipers are known to seize. Overall, a mk2 800 if well looked after will present few problems structually since the rust issues found on the mk1's were all but eliminated.
She looks a very fine example mate :D
