could possably be the release bearing that pushes to engage the clutch,

will you be taking the box off yourself?

if it is that all you need is a clutch kit.....

Sounds more like imput shaft bearing to me inside the box :( because if it was release bearing gone i would of thaught he would not be able to sellect gears

thats also a possability, but with the clutch slipping to i'd say that the bearing has deteriorated and chewed up the clutch spring.....

time will tell

If it had chewed the presure plate forks it would not cause clutch slippage it would just mean when you pushed on clutch it would not dis engage it and there for could not select a gear. Recently my box and another members box had same syptoms so i stripped box down to find knackered input shat bearing as well as diff bearings but hey what do i know

Wiggle the shaft near the gearbox and see if there is any play if there is diff bearings have gone which will cause shafts to move and then you loose gear oil :(

it does move about 6-7mm in and out, the bearings have been noisy for a while now but i didnt get the time to get it done

does that mean my box is dead? im hoping not so i can stick a non-lsd box in while i get it sorted, otherwise £££ time lol

Wiggle inner joint side to side and up and down and let me know the outcome :)

You do get a small amount of in and out movement that is normal but i think 6-7 mm may be a bit excessive the movement you dont want is up and down and side to side and yes there is a seal that seals the driveshafts and cost about £8 each. But the noise you have and then goes when clutch is depressed i would defo say is input shaft bearing :(. If you need input shaft bearing and diff bearings let me know via PM and i can source you some cheaper than any where else and will be steel caged

If there's oil taking a leak out of the box then it sounds like box-rebuild time!
