21,000 Registered Metro's Left

Post by southside »

Just found this on another forum....

I was reading, well looking through my workmates copy of the Star today , and it had an article on mass produced cars that are fading from our roads. Out of 1.37 million Metros made only 21,000 remain, surely its more? Also the Fiat Tipo, only 5000 remain. Other cars listed were Morris Minor, Monty and Maestro

The 1,370,000 applies to the austin and rover metro, but not rover 100. Approximately

1,910,119 Austin and rover metros were made between 1980-1994. That 1.37 million is how many ended up in the UK.

Tbh it seems that there are many more rover metros on the road than the figures suggest, or am I mistaken.

Also, out of 800,000 sold in the UK, there are only 745 Morris Marinas left on our roads...

11,000 maestros out of 605,000 built, and 6900 montegos left too. A bit of a sad story really:(

Its the Fiat uno mk.1, not Tipo where 5000 are left. There are more Tipos probably due to its galvanised body.

There are still 24,000 MGB's left, out of 117,000 made.

I wonder how many Morris Itals are left though?

This article was also well publicised in Auto express....

One of the greatest survivors is the MK.1 Nissan Micra (1983-1992) where out of 341,000 sold here, 96,000 remain!!

Dont you think though that there seems like more than 21,000 metros still around?
