woo hoo new car!

Post by al_leeds »

Managed to pick this up off've the bay yesterday :D :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1

Plan is for some white 17" alloys, decent set of shocks/springs or even coil overs, coupe panel, clear rear light clusters, clear side repeaters, side spats, get the scratches and scrapes sorted out, then onto the engine, apexi induction kit, decent manifold, ss exhaust and a chipped ecu if i can afford it... cant wait to get cracking  !

Will go off and have a read of all the various dohc engine sites but I'm sure I will be on here asking loads of questions! Oh and if any one has any of the bits im after give me a shout!

Yup. we only drive auto boxes in my house- very long story. But I had one of these a few years back and it got pinched 4 weeks after I bought it and wrapped around a lampost. Have been looking for another one for absolutely ages!

I bought one in 2002 I think, didnt have it long before it was pinched but it left such an impression that a couple of us have been searching for one ever since! This one has a few too many miles for my liking but I'l get the usual things lik cambelt etc done and I am sure it will do another 100k without many probs!

I have a sohc d16 216 at the moment and just wanted a bit more power.. do you think with the right exhaust/ induction/ ecu it could get up to 150 BHP?

yea with the right equip its obtainable, few guys over on the crx forum are getting 150-160 and running high 14's low 15's with induction exhaust and ecu, plus putting there cars on a bit of a diet :D

http://board.hondacrx.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php - theres loads of info on there about the d16, complete tunning guide on it in the engine section too.

imo the d16 DOHC is a very underated engine, just over-shadowed by the VTEC.

oh and btw i got my GTi with 75000 miles on the clock for 400 squidies too :D :D :D

edited to say its red too :D

I saw a 416gti somewhere the other day (nice and precise), I can't remeber seeing one before, but didn't realise they were rare. I didn't even know they did a GTI auto!

Do you mean that it wont get anywhere near the high 14 low 15s bit or it wont get anywhere near 150 bhp? The only bit im interested in is the bhp figure!

I'm still in two minds about white wheels, but as it wont be a daily driver I can do something a bit different with it!

I'm personally sticking with 15" wheels, think a nice set of turbo rims on a lowered 400 look ace :D -

Image

thats what mines gonna finish up like hopefully :D

as for 1/4 mile times, i rekon you'll prob be looking at high 16-17secs at best with the auto box, rip it out and put in the close ratio one!

nah the box will stay as it is.. totally uninterested in the quarter mile times, just wanted something a bit rare that had a bit more oomph
As for wheels I had 17's on my 216 until very recently...

Image

and this thing is used every day- In the end I got fed up and picked up some coupe vvc alloys for peanuts off ebay.. but I have to admit I miss the way the straights filled out the arch..

Oh and the 416 gti will get a quad exit exhaust as well but they sure as hell wont stick out as much as the ones on my 216

That 416 looks really good. think I may need to pick up a Laguna splitter!

yup thats me- the brakes were a massive improvement over standard, and thats with oem pads, she'l get some EBC or Black diamond pads at the next service, not sure which ones to go for but thats a whole other debate..
