Hiya all,
Having done 3000 odd miles since aquiring my car I was a little surprised no boy racers had appeared next to me at the lights, or anywhere really.
Yesterday, in the town made of roundabouts I found myself overtaken on entry to a roundabout (impreza), I wasn't canning it by any means but was shifting nicely along. Well, I pulled in behind him and stayed that way as he accelerated to the next roundabout, quick, but not foot to the floor stuff. This exit he canned it and I followed, I saw him sliding a bit in the damp so let off a little on the exit and he pulled ahead by 20M or so, then I truly floored it. Ran it round to 5.5KRPM through 3rd, just nipping 115MPH in fourth.
I kept all the gearchanges snap as I do on the track and the box behaved perfectly, nice;) Anyway, did the same through the next 2 r'bouts and kept with him, just (in actual fact I fell back by 50M or so, but this due to traffic). It did appear, though I could be wrong........ as though he had the edge to 60 or so then slowed a little. In any case, I was very pleased just to keep up with a WRX (in blue with the gold wheels) on the straights, I rather suspect the lack of go round 'corners' was to do with traction control on the WRX(?-it sure looked that way........?), either that or I am still handy in the wet;) Pretty sure he was modded too, the exhaust looked and sounded larger than life!
Only thing which I didn't like, and you'll appreciate, was the brakes, after the fourth r'bout (where I pulled of....) they were smoking and the pedal didn't work:( Not going to bother sorting this, nor make it faster, perfectly happy with it as it is:)
Scott - another pointless post!!!

Driving fast around roundabouts - Hmmmmm. Many years ago (in my T16 MG Montego), I was driving near Leighton Buzzard when a red Cavalier GSi2000 took me on a roundabout. Wasn't impressed by the driving, so kept with him until the next r'bout and floored it on the exit. The Cavalier looked as though it had selected reverse. Anyway, a few seconds later as I saw the car disappear in the rearview mirror, I saw some lights on the Cav start to flash. They were blue

I pulled over and he got out. He came up to me laughing and said something like "You weren't expecting that were you?" Anyway, he said that it was my lucky day as I was fast approaching 3 figures speed wise but he was on his way home for his tea so just keep the speed down and off he went. Guess he probably thought that given the way he overtook me on the roundabout he was in no real position to ticket me.
Oh the things we do when we were young.....

In that case, must have been the same guy i played with. His car must be really slow, it does go around roundabout's, but i had no probs beating him once i got into from 3rd into 4th gear. Shame you have to stop again, lets say when i saw him last, i spoke to him briefly and he was shocked to say the least.
