Rover 620SLi fog lamp installation

Hi everyone.

I'm embarking on a new project with my rover 620SLi (1997 reg).. the one with the Honda engine in it. I'm thinking of installing a set of front fog lamps and have been researching exactly what I need and how I should go about installing them. I've read some of the comments the guys have made about the bits and pieces that I'll need (eg Fog lamps with Bezels, relay and dual switch) but I was wondering how big a job it really it.

I'm no expert when it comes to cars and that's where you guys come in. I've talked to a scrappie about fitting the dual switch on the dash and they recommended removing the steering wheel and the moulding that goes around it to get easy access to the dash area (being careful not to trigger off the the airbag in the process!!)

But this got me a little worried and thought there must be an easier way to do this surely? I'm willing to give it a go but could do with some advice.

Any help would be appreciated. By the way, if anyone knows where I can get the fog lamp components from then that will be a big help too.

I got mine working fairly easily, insert the fuse, fit the relay, fit the duel switch, and plug in and go, but I havnt fixed them in yet, as I have to make some kind of bracket to fix them to the bumper, and also will have to find a better waterproof connector, as my 600 is a 97 and the fogs came off an earlier model.
It is a simple job, but like mine, you may find a few dificulties, but nothing major.

I've had to put the fogs on hold for a bit, as I ran out of room yesterday on the road, and skidded into a green 45, sorry mate, whoever you were. Tiny little scratch in the crome strip, but I bet the insurers want to replace the whole rear bumper then colour match. Cant even see a mark on mine, 600 front bumpers are built strong.

you dont need to take the stearing well of to get at the switches!
the seround comes off with 2 screws IIRC.

Drop the stering wheel (using the leaver), remore the 2 screws on the top of the seround on the top of the instrment bin and pull.

Piece of cake. When I did mine didn't take too long. I think the hardest bit is finding some :)

Yup! you're not wrong there!! I think I might have to seek divine inspiration before i find a pair to fit mine. They are even more rarer than Dracula's next meal!! :D

Maybe wishful thinking.. but I don't suppose anyone has got any of the bits I'm interested in tucked away in a glass cabinet somewhere - have they??

Just keep checking ebay, and there is a guide somewhere about fitting the relay.
As I said, my problem is that I dont have mountings on my front bumper, so you may have to find another way of fixing them.

thanks guys. I've seen the fogs on eBay today and a dual switch too so hopefully I'll be able to sort these out. Thanks for all the feedback - really appreciate it.
