Been offered a Turbo Cabby For £300?

Post by southside »

Arghh what should i do? if i have it, it means selling the 420. Its a P reg, in amarath, fully reconned engine and box all powder coated, itg induction kit e.t.c the only downside is the interior has been stripped out and it needs an exhaust and it comes on steelies as he's sold the backbox and wheels seperate. and its got no tax or mot as its been his ongoing project and been off the road for about 2 years. It also comes with coupe bumpers but they're red. its lowered on G-max shocks and 40mm springs.

Then he also said if it wanted i can have that and a Rover 220Gsi nasp with tax and mot for £500 the pair :o. Anyone wanna buy my 420?.lol

Keep the 420 - sounds like it needs 10x the work that yours does. Cabbies look dated anyway.

No it isnt mate. He's built it all up from scratch himself. He's had for about 5 years been its been off the roadthe last couple of years as he's been doing work on it but now its just an abandoned project as he's got a new project now. Fiesta RS turbo van.lol

If has to be one or the other I'd keep the 420.

The only things thats swinging me towards the cab is the fact that i just need to put some bumpers and an exhaust on it and its road ready. I gotta do the HG on the 420 :( its not bothering me and it isnt overheating its just weaping oil like a waterfall down the front of the block :(

So it's gained an interior now then? :P

I'd keep the 420! HG is what an afternoons graft not hurrying and can be done for £50 with a Klinger. Cabby will need MOT, and as its been sat for so long who knows what MOT man may find wrong! Seized brakes, perished hoses...

If you could get is as a project to finish and keep the 420 then do it, if it means selling 420 wouldn't bother, as I'll put money on it, won't just be a simple case of "some bumpers and an exhaust" :)

second that i brought a project zr that"only needed indicators wiring in" that was 5 months ago i have had to re-wire the whole car with a new interior loom as it had cut about to much and things added etc.

unless you have been invoved in the project i would steer clear as there could be alot of expense ahead.

as said, a hg change is nothing compared to what the cabby could cost you in time and money,....

you know the 420 is good, solid and worthy.

Go with your heart. If you REALLY want the cabriolet, can manage/afford the work required and the price is right then go for it.

If you have ANY doubts then leave it - otherwise you will regret your decision and resent the car for it. Believe me, I've been there and it's why I sold my 827 Coupe - I thought the colour would grow on m and it didn't! I then realised that no matter how much work I put in and no matter how nice it looked I would never like BRG on that car.

Well im in the process of finding a rented garage. think i've found one so im going to be greedy now and have 2 turbo's and the ZR.lol I cant really turn it down at the price. it'd break for more than that if the worst came to worst. Rob, its got all the interior with it its just out the car and the whole time its been stored its been in a garage anyway not outside. It still starts and runs perfect and the electric hood is good to.

Sounds like the best course of action to me. At least if you do sort it, you can decide which you prefer and possibly sell one.

Update. Been and had a look at it tonight and its better than i remember. Bodywork is mint apart from a small dent on the bonnet. Included in the deal is the following...

Car with fully reconded engine, box and turbo
Turbo timer,
BMV Induction kit,
back seats have been stripped out and its had a proper prfesional install fitted and he's leaving the infinity 6x9's in but keeping the amp and sub.
Silver lockwood dials
had a new roof 3 years ago but its been dry stored for 2 years so only really had 1 years use. Rear window didnt get changed though and its a bit clouded up.
Proffesional light smoke tints fitted all round
colour coded and meshed front grill
pair of coupe bumpers with fogs included but not fitted and need spraying as they're red.
1 bucket seat on drivers side but i'll be taking that out and putting full cream leather front seats in if i can find some.
Coupe spoiler, again not fitted and in knighfire red so needs painting
front and rear strutbraces
Brand new performance clutch kit, unfitted.

What it needs;

exhaust system from downpipe back.
headlights (had angel eyes fitted but sold them seperate)
Frotn brake discs, callipers and pads, (had ZS 180 brakes fitted but again sold seperate)
and finally front and rear struts with springs as he had coilovers but sold them seperate but i've already got a set of shocks and springs off my old couope anyway :P
