Rover Vs ??????
Sitting here with very little to occupy my mind and my thought drifted off onto the idea of having a Rover Vs <blank> day. I know we have had similar events in the past but nothing for a long time. There was talk of a Ford day but nothing seemed to come of that.
So would anyone be up for a Rover vs. <blank> day?? The format would have to be decided but I suspect it would be 1/4 mile based, or perhaps even a consecutive dyno day?
Obviously we have to fill the blank so has anyone ideas?? Ideally we would want a marque that would allow any of our members to be competitive, not just those fortunate enough to have 300+bhp.
So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions post them here and perhaps we can get something together for late spring early summer.

Yeah that'd be cool, I'd defo be up for something like that.
There was a Rover vs Ford events years ago and I remember talk of something similar on here but like you say nothing ever came of it.
Would really need to be something similar ie Ford RST's, Honda's, Vauxhall's etc

The Rover Vs ford day was a good laugh, the Ford boys lived up to there reputation and as such were hugely entertaining!
A marque that springs to mind is the FCT, there one of the few cars that match us std Vs std. Problem with a lot of other stuff is they have to be madly modded to get close to our average 220brake.
Pitty its always geared towards qtrs, if it was from a rolling start or handling we could go and pick on a 4wd club.....

Doesn't have to be Jase. Could always hire somewhere like Haynes or Curborough, and if there is enough interest even look into airfield to accomadate both disciplines.jase wrote:Pitty its always geared towards qtrs, if it was from a rolling start or handling we could go and pick on a 4wd club.....

The key aim for an event like this would be to allow anyone, within reason, to participate.Mr_James wrote:Dammit, I need a faster car so I can take part in this sort of stuff!

VS Vauxhalls would be good imo
lots of nova boys and but theres still the calibra/cav turbo and the new astra coupes to keep up to the tubby coupes
astra gsi was a particularly fast car with shopping trolly handling so there'll be many cars out there that will give a good fight...not too good a fight of course hehe

noooo, not vauxhalls. Someone might turn up in a completly standerd, 200,000 mile 1989 Astra GTE and thrash the pants off us all. Or worse still, who has beaten an astra van off the lights? I sure as hell havent.
2cv's sounds good, but no VW camper vans ffs.
Problem with all this is who organises it? Its a big undertaking.

I might be persuaded to take a trip down south if something were to be organised, not sure who would be a good club to pick on, sorry compete against lol, FCT's are an obvious choice for the turbo people, but we want everyone to be able to compete, so more so Honda's would be the better option logically, depends on the set up of the day as was said.

If numbers were short could always do 3 clubs like Rover v Ford v Honda?
Could take on some 4wd guys but to be fair it'd need to be something like 30-130mph or similar. The Evo guys always enjoy these days.

I'd quite like to see rover vs honda...
Mainly because if ATR owners are anything to go by then a lot of Honda owners think their car is the best thing since sliced bread.. and I'd quite like to see some rover turbos kick some a$$.
