hi guys,

ive been looking at 620 tis for a couple of weeks now, just need to sell my car then im going to buy one

but i cant decide on which ones to go for?

the earlier models dont have aircon. colour coded handles or the klinger headgasget but are known to have the dizzzy and rotor arm and are supposed to be a little bit quicker than the revised version

Try and get a face lift version if you can, they have a few more refinements that include aircon, head rests, 3rd brake light, cup holders in the door cards, plus a few other things.

Around the changeover year 1996/1997 you can find cars with some of these bits and not others.

Dizzy versions are supposedly quicker, but the difference is negligible really.

Check for the obvious oil leaks, the front corner of the headgasket will probably be weeping, but as long as it's not too bad you should be fine. As you say, the Klinger HG was fitted to the latter models and will provide additional protection from HG failure.

Check for oil leaks from gearbox area, including driveshafts, and from the rear crankshaft oil seal, which will manifest itself by leaking oil from bellhousing join.

Listen for any obvious whirring noises from the gearbox on the test drive. The gearboxes are not a strong point so pay particular attention to this.

Check the condition of front discs and pads as they are a pain to replace and can be expensive if it needs new wheel bearings at the same time.

The eariler ones can have air-con, it was an option.

To be honest, I think the best thing to do is go and look at ones which look in good nick and buy the best one you can find - be it early or late. If you're prepared to travel you should be able to find a decent one.

IMO for 800 quid you could find a splendid example! and boy ... you do get a lot for your money tis a very well kept secret - 'for very little money you get very much car' LOL
