Just been flicking through the MG owners mag in WH Smith and theres a big NAC MG article in there about the new MG's. The latest motor show in china has seen NAC reveal all its models to date including the TF, 7 (ZT) and the 5 (ZS) which is identical the the ZS 180 mk2's we had over here. The only catch is NAC have reavled the only car they plan on selling in the UK is the TF. The 7 (ZT), 5 (ZS) and the final replacment for the ZR will never bee sold in the UK.

I imagine they had decided the future of the MG design concept was dead in the UK, and to a degree I guess they are probably right, sales were hardly spectacular after all.
For the numbers they would sell I guess it wasn't economically viable to keep manufacturing facilities running in the UK for all models, hence why Longbridge is all but gone. The import quotas probably don't make the numbers too great either, so they're not going to bother.
The TF is competitive in its class, and is very good at what it is, like the Land Rover. It makes sense to keep it going, therefore.

TBH all the magazines are just speculating on this. No official word has been given yet as to what the model line p will be and the Mk2 ZS the had in the pictures WILL NOT be the MG5 as honda own the rights to it. It will be something similar based loosely on that but last word was it will be built for the European and k markets in longbridge.
Best thing is to sit tight and wait for the outcome but i cant see them pulling the plug on the whole k range other than the TF as i dont see how just selling the TF can be a viable option.

Southside i can promise you it WILL NOT be that car which is the MG5. if you read the press release from NAC it states that the car will be similar to the car shown but wont be that one as honda own the rights to much of the design. It was purely there to show how the line up will be formed and to drum up interest in that sector. The car is in fact one that was built pre closure of mg rover and was shipped over from the longbridge plant for testing.

That's because Chinese buyers of these cars love their toys and luxury. They are just catering to the public's requirements, and by doing so, competing directly with the Roewe models.

Thats what i thought but as been said above they're not going to be producing it.
I find it really strange though why would they put a car on show that they wont be building

i believe there are 2 version of the MG7, the sport and the classic. the sport will be more like the ZT we all know, the classic will be more like the 75.

Sothside it is simple as i see it. they are trying to drum up support in the brand and the more cars they have in the line up the better. It is simply to gauge reaction to the current product to see what they could change i think but imo if they cold it should remain unchanged. that is not gonna happen though.

Whatever they bring to the UK it would want to be seriously cheap as apart from enthusiasts Rover/MG and whatever the new names are, are regarding as motoring muck by most buyers.
If the TF is much more than a Megane Coupe no one will buy it.
If the MG 7 is dearer than a well speced Avensis or Vectra again very few will buy them.
Sad but true.

I mentioned to E_T_V yesterday, it's a pity that MG-R didn't approach the Chinese with a collaboration deal to develop new cars for the Chinese and UK markets.
I don't like the way the Chinese seem to be saying "look at these cars we make, they are great". All they've done is bought a ready to make car range and adapted ready to produce concepts.
Have I mentioned before that the whole MG-Rover saga upsets me greatly..
