AN-Racing New FWD record

Post by Tom™ »

The AN-Racing MGZR Replica has set a new FWD record with a time of 10.23 @ 138mph
the 1/8 was 6.4 @ 115mph

Videos coming soon as well as more timing info, Andy believes there is more to be had from the car as there was a misfire in 4th gear on the run. Other runs were below 10.4

Wow, that's so hard to imagine being possible.
He should do international events against Americans because it would be such a sleeper and funny to see it beating rwd muscle cars, and tuned jap cars, plus I think the Americans would appreciate it in good sporting spirit.

Most impressive to me isnt the fact its FWD, there are FWD cars running 8s in the US. Its that its not a purpose designed tubular framed car with a fibreglass shell running FWD.

Good stuff.

Not sure what the time differences would be but aren't american 1/4 miles actually 400m and ours our 402.3m an actual 1/4 mile?

Guess sub 10s are next then!

Interesting comment on the Youtube video that a Nissan Cherry has been faster. Perhaps not road legal?

Hi there,

Heard about this today and thought I would join up and congratulate Andy and his team on behalf of the CPL Racing Team. Looks impressive in the video.

Any chance of posting the time ticket? Curious to see the 60ft and 330ft :D

Also do you guys run traction control? Were not allowed to use it going by the rules we adhere too. Its amazing the amount of traction you get!

Hope you pop into the 9's soon - looks like its only a matter of time now.

Does anyone pull away in 2nd to aid traction off the line in high power cars or do they just have totally different gearing??
Decent tyres help as well as i'm about to find out :) , i'd be interested to see a time slip as well:)

Will try to get it up on his website as soon as I can, but this time hopefully wont stand for long.

Called andy on this one, he said that he has tried it, but it isn't something that he managed to setup correctly, so he doesn't run any traction control, the run in question had no traction control.

Andy is definately hopeful of cracking this soon.

Yea that was on Guy's car - he was quite lucky there was not more damage or indeed another car in the left lane.

The 10.23 run had a slow 60ft, it was about 1.8seconds, normally his 60ft's are 1.6seconds.. this is why he is confident of doing a high 9 second pass.

great time and great 60ft times for fwd -got to be slicks or drag radials -big :notworthy:

I would think a sequential box would be a big improvement on andys car although your talking mega bucks 6-8k from what i have heard

yeah a sequntial box and getting his 60ft back down to 1.6sec and getting rid of the missfire and upping the boost for the last 1/8th would probably see a 9.7
