They usually have specialist companies there on the day I think, so you can probably arrange it when you're there.

I've always wondered if the trackday insurance is worth the money.
I mean, if someone hits you, are you covered?
If you aren't, how much are you wasting?

With HIC i'm already covered for trackdays i just have to phone them the dates i go. Might be worth considering them come renewal time although i havent been on the track. Also what Grant says also makes sense most of the time you have gentlemans agreements!!

You want to get on a real race track, that's if anyone can afford it this year. :(

Love going to trackdays, even though I never take part. Still hoping to get a cheap trackday car soon this year.

I cant wait. Went around in my mates 205 and its so nice having no cars coming the other way and old grannies etc to worry about. I know my car is only a 1.4 but im sure i can keep up with some stuff and have some fun.

Hi, rather than posting a new topic i did a search :D found this topic and realised nobody really covered what i wanted to know.

Me and my friend had a thought that we could go halves on a track car, learn about tuning cars, learn to drive better, and get any temptations to go fast on the road out of our systems by going on the track instead.

We thought we could tow the car to the trackdays and then rag it round a bit each and it would be great, but I wondered if we need insurance? The car we would get probably would be uninsurable for on the road as were both nearly 18 with soon to be 1yrs NCB (not enough to insure many/any good cars).

Do we need track day insurance/is it a good idea? seein as on trackdays unless were complete idiots we shouldnt do anythin but get a puncture or maybe get some stonechips from goin in the gravel, so do we need insurance since we will just fix the car ourselves? (sorry if you think that idea is wrong, ive never been to track days just watched some clips, ive realised you can be pretty close to other cars but surely theres not that many occasions where people collide is there?)

Any help on this to set us straight with insurance or our general plan would be great....

Thanks guys :D
Mike

Hi,

you shouldn't need any tax, or insurance for most track days, but it is worth checking with the organisers to any requirements they have. In general though as long as the car is in good nick you should have no problems.

Cheers

Last time I went down to Pukekohe Race Circuit, it set me back a massive 30GBP for the day. And for the last few hours, my 220 was the only car there so we had the track to ourselves :D

it's ok, life has a way of getting even.

so next time it happens that Gary gets an empty track, he'll probably crash into a cow or sheep, if the other burberry boys aren't bangin them in a field ;)
