IIRC you need to swap the throttle bodies over. As the 84ps one is smaller.

Think you will find you can cut out the stops in the throttle body that is what stops it from opening all the way.

The throttlebody is the same and so is the cable i think. Its just that the flappers "arm" is shaped so it cant open fully and then restricted with a block so it just wont open. Just change the throttlebody to unrestricted ones TB or a 52mm one and it should be derestricted.

Thats what i thought but i've since been told by a few people that you need to change the cable aswell as its shorter or longer one of the two, so it doesn't open so far.

I'm pretty certain they didnt do a 1.1 in the 25's or a 1.4 8v - i think it was just a restricted 1400 DOHC

Parkers show them as a 1.1

So your saying its really a 1.4 just restricted by inlet and exhaust

There was a 1.1 litre 25 - just as there was a 211 before it.

well it should be pretty obvious wether its an 8v or 16v.

then it should say on the logbook if its 1.1 or 1.4,
i think these two engines, the 1.1 16v and the 1.4 restricted 16v have very similar power outputs, so its hard to understand why rover would bother using the 2 different powerplants.

if all else fails, have a look at the engine number, should begin either k11 or k14 respectively.

as for releasing the power, is the ECU not different also?

I thought they only used the 1.4 16v DOHC in the 25.

I didn't realise they did a 1.1 in the 25 too, you learn something new everyday!

And there were 1.4 8v in the mk3 200. Dunno if that engine featured in the 25 though.

Just to confuse things ;)
91 Citroen BX GTi 8v - bought March 13
95 Ford Mondeo 1.8i Ghia - March 11 - March 13 - scrapped
98 620 SLDi - July 08 - March 11
97 420 GSDi - dumped in France
94 420 GSi Turbo, 235bhp. Dec 03 - May 08, still missed
93 214 Si - June 02 - Feb 04
