Look what i found in my local paper!!! **photos Added**

Post by Crome »

I saw the add in the for sale section,
rover 220 for sale
Low millage
1 owner
Full rover service history

I went to see it after i got back from crete on sat. the guy works over seas and is retiring soon and wanting the garage un cloged of all his junk. i was so suprised, under a thick cover was a mint condition L reg flame red coupe turbo with only 32,000 miles on the clock!!!!!!!. so i started askin the guy the usall questions, answers::

Serviced by the local rover garage all its life
He had owned it since new
no major problems
good reson for sale
And the best it had been garaged all its life from new and had not been out for nearly a year!!!

He wants 2,500 for it, is that a good price for a mint condition turbo?

So iv got a job interview 2day for an IT tech so if i get this job ill be goin to straight back up to see the guy and put a deposit on it!!

these examples do pop up from time to time and deserve to be owned by someone who will take care of it.

sounds marvelous but might need a little hard driving and a redexed engine to ease up some parts.....sounds like another old codger mobile that's never gone over 60mph

Id say its worth more than 2500. If its truly mint and 1 owner, full rover service on 30k.

It would be a crying shame if such a car went to anybody other than a devotee.

Good luck with both the job AND the car :)

Great find mate, flame red turbo coupes are surprisingly rare (I've never seen another one on the road other than my own) and to find a mint one is mega lucky. EVERYONE knows red is the best colour for a fast car! :P Worth over £2500 I reckon. Good luck!

ooh you said 220 so i didn't think you meant a coupe....

GET IT!!! you'll prolly be able to knock him down but that sounds like a real find.

Just hope it hasn't been grandad killed by only ever doing dawdling trips to the shop and back and never going over 60mph...ask him if it's ever been at full boost and what it runs like :)

am i stereotyping here at all? :D

Wooo its turbo time!
i got the job, the interviewer phoned mid day to say iv got it and i start on the 1st of november!
so iv managed to put a deposit down on the coupe!! only problem is the guy was wantin a quick sale because he works over seas and is leavin in 10days again and wanted an empty garage b4 he left, but i managed to get him to leave it there till he gets back early january! very good cos means its under cover in a garage, gives me time to get my car sold and start savin to pay the turbo off.

I would love to get it off him b4 he left but i just cant get the money or get my coupe sold in 10days!

All in all a very good day for me :D

im goin up 2mora to give him the deposit and get a few photos of her.

Sounds good to me, cracking find.

I paid £2400 for mine and that had a couple of flakes on the bonnet and 50k on it, ok it was 4 years ago but still souinds like this one is mint.

Worth it IMO, especially as he's basically agreed to keep it stored and garaged for you until January while you get yours sold etc. Ideal scenario all round

Congrats on both the job and the car

If anything turbo coupes have gone up in value lately, I bought mine 2 years ago with 54k on the clock and perfect history for £1800 and people thought I'd paid too much! :o

Page 1 clearly states....

If your rover has done a careful 30k miles by a gentle owner and serviced regularly....keep this manual safe as you might need it in another 30k miles...meanwhile keep up the regular services and enjoy!

P.S: mine had done 120k when I got it 18 months ago...it has now done 130 ish thou and the 10k i've owned it, it has had a real good hard beating constantly...so far nothing has broken or dropped power. Pretty much the strongest car i've owned so you've got yourself one real bargain there.

Glad you've also got a garage to put it in too Crome :) Be a shame to leave it parked up outside 365 days a year.
