305bhp "full house" turbo conversion, incl. transmission £P.O.A

If the jump from 168 -> 220 bhp is 35k -> £10k, i dread to think how much for the 305 bhp conversion.

Would be mental doing 70mph in first gear though

THEY SAY -

" As fitted to: Lotus Elise, MGF and Landrover Freelander "

I'm guessing by this they mean the k series engine, and not the turbo conversion!

I think i'll e-mail them and enquire! about it!

Andy

EDIT = E-mail sent asking for prices, more info, and if the power outputs were predicted or actually proven.

A m8 of mine has the first 1.8K series Elise tuned by himself and Dave Andrews. My m8 makes the airbox, also made the 4 throttle body setup until manufacturers caught on to the market for the K series..... for those that are familiar with the history........

The car was running 205BHP on standard Pistons for a looong time, after some forgies were installed it was upped to 220BHP, remembering the car originally had 126ish BHP, thats a massive hike.

Because the first mod was a learning experience it did take a few attempts with the head work.

Now the groundwork has been done he can do a full 126-220BHP conversion for less than £5000. Dave is obviously running a business now and prices reflect the need to make a living.......

He has taken the 1.8K to well in excess of 230BHP but reliability suffers..........

Certainly would make for an interesting ride, an Elise with 300bhp. The car with 220bhp is a handfull, desperate quick too, not sure you need more! Also, I think FWD cars with a lightweight K pushing 300BHP is probably a bit silly! RWD all the way:)

Hi,

yes it exists along with a couple of other high powered Turbo Elises, the particular car that BBR built was for Adrian Newey, head designer of the F1 McLaren team I believe. It was tested in Cars and Car Conversions a few years back and was described as being 'almost undriveable on the road', I believe the power may well have increased since then too!

The other one's I am aware of are the Mark Waldron carbon fibre bodied hill climb Elises, the engine's where developed by turbo technics, I think a later car made around 400bhp but had engine failure on it's first outing.

Theres also some other Turbo'd K's out there, including a low blow turbo in an MGF, various supercharged Elise's including Stuart Boffeys home built one.

HTH

Cheers

Neil
