Yep, that M52 lump under the bonnet is much more economical than the M50 in the 325.But as it is the 323 not the 325 you can expect very reasonable fuel consumption of about 25mpg in town and 30+ on the motorway
Sneaky, sir.

Re: e36 323i MINT L@@K !!!111one!!1
For the benefit of people on here who know the history... its had the pas pipe replaced and an engine swap that only a bmw tech would have the faintest clue about. As such it has the potential for about 30bhp increase for the price of a 325 exhaust.
For the rest of the world, its a de-tuned 24v 2.5 litre straight 6 bmw 3 series... otherwise known as a 323i.
Oh and those figures are what an m50 would give anyway, so bite me
The only reason it could present a problem would be with parts... But as has been well documented on here in the past. I omit things in adverts, but always tell the punters when they arrive/over the phone. We've also been over how much of a c*nt many of you think that makes me... so lets give it a miss this time eh?
If you want to buy it, reply. If not... do one.

Re: e36 323i MINT L@@K !!!111one!!1
I wasn't criticising, I just found that particular line slightly amusing considering the swappage.
If it was me, I'd have pointed out the M50 conversion as a major selling point, as it's a lot more solid, reliable and gutsy than the 2.5 M52 which came out, and is a very common swap, after all. Certainly no nikasil problems to put people off buying.
Hell, if I had a lump of cash and was looking for a shiny E36, I'd be very tempted by that one, as it looks a lot better than 90% of the 323's out there. I can't exactly justify having 5.3 litres of German sausage on my drive at the moment though, really.

The thing about this car, and the reason I would rather leave the engine swap out of it for now, is that its too good, and too expensive for the boy racer brigade. They'll buy a 318 with an m50 innit for £600 which will fall apart after 4 days.
The kind of people this one should appeal to (and is priced to aim at) arent interested in engine swaps and extra bhp, they dont know about nikasil issues... they just want a nice, comfy, minty fresh, 4 door saloon with a badge that wont look out of place at pony club to ferry the dogs about in...
If it had been done by a pro, I would mention it in the first instrance... but it hasnt been. There's nothing wrong with it per sé, but the wiring could be a bit neater, the traction control has been lost etc. These are the sort of things put normal people off imo.
alex, certainly.
With 750 my way.

Re: e36 323i MINT L@@K !!!111one!!1
Ok... I want rid of this piece of sh*t. I got it on good faith (and knowledge of the engine) knowing it got warm in traffic.. its a bmw, viscous coupling is f*cked.... simples.... no.
Over the last few weeks I have replaced the thermostat, water pump, radiator and viscous coupling, with new oem parts.
It still gets warm in traffic. Not red hot, but warm enough to make the pressure release expansion cap weep a bit. Having eliminated every other part of the cooling system, I am going to be replacing the headgasket this week, with a full head skim etc. It doesnt show any of the 'signs' of hgf, no mayo etc... but it does seem to over pressurise, and as said gets warm in traffic (fine on the motorway though) but as everything else has been replaced it can only really be that. I will have a sniff test and compression test done first to be sure though.
Receipts and a photo diary of the work will be available and posted on here so you know I havent just dumped a bottle of k-seal in it (as was the plan for all the swaps that were supposed to happen this weekend but didnt because of time wasting pieces of minge discharge)... and for your peace of mind, time stamped photo's and maybe a video or two of its test runs after the work is done to show it has fixed the problem.
While I'm at it I will be wiring the horn back into the steering wheel, and sorting out the abs and tcs lights too.
With all that done, it will actually be as MINT!!!11ONe11!! as the title suggests.
Once thats done, first person to offer me a Ti for it with tax and test and lowering springs (and preferably a big fat fmic) will take it.... or maybe a vitty...
(shocker! Munky makes an honest classified ad!)
ps, even with the price of parts so far, and with the head set and skimming, its still not left me out of pocket with that rustbucket civic, before you start.... this is a for sale thread, if you want to buy it, reply, if you don't, kindly f*c k off

at least two days removing stickers - check.
I'll supply you with the head set, but you'll have to fit it. deal?
edit, actually, the mood I'm in with this f*cking car atm, I'll fit it and you can leave the stickers on, meet in the middle and straight swap? (though if you get bored before next weekend, making a start removing them wouldnt go amiss).
ps, I searched swapz for ti's earlier, there are f*ck all on there and they all look shite. I did see yours and think about 'showing interest' tho lol.

Re: e36 323i MINT L@@K !!!111one!!1
tbh I dont know if it needs it, it might just be a massive airlock... but its the last thing on the list of things that make cars overheat so I may as well do it. I'm fed up of bleeding it over and over and it seems to be getting less and less effective... and I now have a scar on my face from a burn.... Pressure bleeding coolant (mouth to mouth stylee) when the bleed valve is right next to the fill hole isnt good.

Re: e36 323i MINT L@@K !!!111one!!1
baaahahahaha!
well if thats my competition I may as well just duck out now.
Btw, I'm being serious. I want rid of it, even once its fixed I have developed a deep loathing for this car and want it out of my life asap.
When fixed it will be a superb example, and just needs that m50 exhaust for 190+bhp... Its a £1500 car if you're patient, a grand if you're not... and lets be honest, your ti isnt either of the above
(imho of course)
But I fancy another Ti and am willing to take the hit if it means getting rid of this thing asap.

dont start on what its worth in parts... you know thats not how it works... My armrest is worth £50, the back lights about the same, if I de-lense the fronts they're 80 odd... I know what every part of this car is worth, and its more than yours... so ner.

cheers chap... you can get e36's a lot cheaper... but not this condition, mileage, age etc... so I wont be dropping very far from that price at all (the wife wont let me for starters).
Looks like I will have a bit of a wait though, nobody is buying cars atm!
